Ferro Rod Firestarter 3.5 inch Magnesium bar with Paracord Handle, Carabiner and Scraper DIY Survival kit

This product works great and is exactly as described. The size is ideal for both grip and striking area. Works great with a knife as a striker, but the included striker (piece of hacksaw blade) works just fine if you choose to use it. The ferro rod provides ample spark that can ignite just about any good fuel source you are using. I teach conservation education for a living and we incorporate basic survival skills into our outdoor classes. We teach that finding and using the right equipment is key to your success. This is certainly the right equipment.

I think I got maybe 5 strikes on this. On the 6th, the flint completely broke out of the magnesium bar. I wouldn’t trust this thing on its own to make fire... honestly, a $1 lighter is more reliable than this product Edit: totally worth it if you just want to throw this thing into a camp fire and watch it burn- the magnesium puts out a brilliant white light.

Great product, works exactly as described. The carabiner is a really nice feature allowing me to clip on any bag I take into the woods. Works good with the hack saw piece that comes with it and also works great with a knife. Having the magnesium and ferro together is very convenient. Would highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a do it all firestarter.

Don't waste the few bucks it cost very disappointing I've been using Ferro rods and flint for well over 60 years I bought it on an impulse buy saying to my self the 2 go together and they do but not these 2 just a bummer I am back on my normal Ferro rods .
