Aura: A Novel (English and Spanish Edition)

This advertisement is asking for a young historian with rather specific qualification, a generous salary and easy terms, tailormade for Felipe Montero. He applies, gets hired and finds himself within a dark, rat-infested mansion. His first assignment is doled out, his curiosity is peaked and then ... A fascinating short story with an end open to questions. I had to read it several times and still there are new discoveries! It requires some familiarity with Mexican history.

Always wanted to read the book now that I have that’s all good

The English translation in this bilingual edition is very well done. Reading the Spanish at first was a bit laborious, but with the help of the side-by-side translation, I soon became quite engrossed in the story and the imagery. If you are looking for a book that helps you learn sentence structure and Spanish syntax, this isn't particularly helpful as Fuentes departs from normal patterns and waxes poetic to the point of being a bit bizarre. However, I became so interested in the story that I switched to reading the English first and then went to the Spanish to fill out the imeragery.

Lectura entretenida. Excelente para aquellas personas de habla hispana que desean mejorar su inglés, ya que el contenido está en ambos idiomas.

An interesting story from Spain's master story teller. It reads much more easily and logically in Spanish, but the translation is interesting anyway.Great suspense, twist ending that makes you feel like you've been had (but In a good way.). Loved it.

I was looking for this book for a long time. I finally found it. Very happy with the services offered by the seller Cornucopia Marketplace. They have a wide selection of books.

This story really has some amazingly beautiful descriptions of a story that has some quite dark undertones. Carlos Fuentes really is one of Mexico's greatest writers.

Un libro ameno, intrigante y corto :) Una buena lectura para los días de Halloween

Eine der schönsten Liebensgeschichten, die ich kenne; eine Geschichte voller geheimnisvollem Zauber, liebesblinder Hingabe und rauschhaftem vergessen. Besonders gelungen finde ich die Aufhebung von Zeit und Raum, die Einebnung der Frage, wie alt man selbst ist, wie alt der Partner oder welchen Unterschied dies macht, Liebe Ist zeitlos.Ich habe kein Buch häufiger verschenkt, als dieses Bändchen.

The novel did not match up to my expectations.

Like the book, and it was very cheap so I can't complain! Both Spanish and English. Easy to read and enjoy. Very mysterious storyline.It was in poorer condition than I expected. Heavily written in with stickers on the cover I couldn't remove.
