Jim Harrison. What is not to like?

From one of my favorite authors a great read and unique gift. Highly recommend any of his works.

Magical writing, a creative mind that will be greatly missed. Jim Harrison could touch upon things of nature, sexuality, and the deep warmth and texture of a day’s experience in a unique fashion.

As with all of Jim Harrison's works, takes you with him, makes you think, as an older reader, relates to many of my own life experiences, jogs the memory in a pleasant and realistic way Thank you JMc

Really enjoyed the writing and messages behind the words. Jim has focused this work on the later stages of life.

As always, Jim Harrison can paint a picture and tie it to emotion and experience with such simplicity and with an arrow to the heart. He is so connected to his own soul and to the earth. He makes me slow down when I read his words. I can't read one poem without reading the next. I wish I could have taken a writing class from him.

This was the first writing I've read by Big Jim. It's lovely. Heavyweight but accessible- not an easy thing for a writer to achieve. JH clearly loved his birds and fishing. And his landscapes. And his food! He was Falstaffian, really. I treasured reading this and I bought 'Brown Dog' soon afterwards. That is also a wonderful book. I've just started 'The Legends of the Fall' novellas. So happy to have found this writer.

Jim Harrison was one of the best poets and fiction writers. Much of today's literature seems to want to impress, to position itself apart from other authors but not always in a believeable way. Harrison was a simple man of the earth, but in this case simple doesn't mean dumb. Far from that, he was a man gifted with a knack and love of nature and he literally danced with everything he touched. Yet he shared how HE was touched by the things that surround us, the things that many of us ignore, dont notice, arent concerned with. Harrison makes us care by showing us the importance of things...

My son introduced me to the writings of Jim Harrison a few years ago. Each time I visit with him, I enjoy a different book and sometimes end up buying a copy for myself. This was one of those times.
