Kumon Grade 5 Reading (Kumon Reading Workbooks)

I really like these workbooks. We have used this series of work texts for a few years. My daughter has really taken to them- the lessons are not too long, nor too drab, but they are challenging. They do use stories for the child that are not too juvenile, which I really appreciate. The 8 year old that uses these was a late reader, but this year alone has rocked to 5th grade reading thanks in part due to these workbooks. I'm pleased with them! To note: Kumon is huge in Japan where we live- with centers filled with children after school, so they are expert in the field of elementary education from my observations. When in a local school we observed they use these workbooks (in their native language) for the students there- and it is common knowledge that education in Japan is done well.

We enjoy the Kumon Reading Workbooks. Your child read a short story and then answers several questions about them. It tells you how many points each question is worth and provides the answers so grading them is easy.My only complaint would be that, in the questions they ask they are looking for very word specific answers from the story and not to see if your child understood the general idea of the story. It was frustrating at times even for me when I was helping them to have to re-read the whole story to find the exact wording they were looking for. For that reason, I prefer Abekas Read and Think (earlier grades) and Read and Comprehend (later grades).But the stories were interesting and held my children's attention, and I plan to keep using the Kumon Reading Workbooks as supplemental material.

We brought this series from Grade 1 - 5. It's good to introduce reading comprehension to kids, though it might be too easy for actual grade. I think it's good for 2 grades down. Like a third grader for Grade 5 reading, otherwise it's kind of easy. My Pre-K kid just finished the Grade 1.

This book helps my autistic grandson with comprehension.

Great material for grade 5.

I got this book for my grandson to read. He is in the 3rd grade and reads on 7th grade level.I recommend this book because it has great information.This a good tool to keep kids busy after finishing homework.Good detail learning.

Using it for my 4th grader. Gets progressively harder but slowly so your kid can adapt. Many different topics for reading practice.

Resolve some of your children’s comprehension problems.

This really helped my reading Develop!! Since I've used this I was top of the class in reading and THIS IS NO JOKE. It has texts, questions, interesting stories, and more! Would DEFINETLY Reccomend!!!
