The best DVD burner on the market is back!!!
There is no better DVD burner than this drive. I got the overborn edition and its amazing for burner Xbox 360 games. I don't need any special software to burn XGD3 games now that I have this drive. This drive automatically makes the overburn to 8.7GB every time you put in a blank disc and open Imgburn or whatever program you use. It's quiet and looks nice inside of my gaming desktop. Buy no other drives but his one!!! My drive was manufactured in 2017 and works as good as the Optiarcs from back in the day but cost half of what the other models sell for here on Amazon. This might be a different model number but it's still a top botch Optiarc burner.

Excellent Quality Optical Drive
A good dependable Optical CD drive. The front panel is a bit plain, as the button to open the drawer is just plain black and hard to see. This unit is supposedly capable of writing 8.7 GB overburn discs and M-disc capability - able to write to the exclusive M-DISC archival media, which is able to store digital content without data loss for up to 1, 000 years. I have not yet made any of those. The "Optiarc" brand was formerly marketed under the Sony name. I was bewildered with all the very inexpensive optical drives. This one had more than all the features I wanted.

Don't Buy Used!
These units are terrific. Quiet running, smooth drawer operation, and the ability to over burn on media which has the capacity. Having gone thru too many cheap drives, this one was a splurge. Time will tell if it's has longevity the other drives were lacking, but for right now, it's a pleasure to use. One warning however, a second unit was bought used thru Amazon. Figured since they were selling it, it would be a good used working unit. That wasn't the case. The oem box had clearly been shipped several time as bits of bar codes from other labels remained. It was doa, and being stone dead was probably why it was returned in the first place. If you don't mind the bother of making returns, and aren't in an immediate need, then take the chance. For myself, the few dollars saved buying used thru Amazon doesn't offset the frustration of making the installation only to remove, repack & return.

Inconsistent
Installation was straightforward. The unit is very quiet. When it works, it works well. My problem is that it is inconsistent. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. tried different media, no difference. Rebooted the computer and again sometimes it remedies the problem and other times it doesn't. Haven't tried the overburn since I don't have the right media. so it is okay.
