Not so GR8 for Sophie the Aloof....
I really wish I'd had the great experience with this that the other reviewers had. Maybe it should just be for dogs. I was pretty anxious to get this and try it, my Maine Coon kitty has very long hair, and a good deal of it. She grooms constantly, so anything to help keep her from getting sick would be a great help. I've tried all the pills, and all the edibles that are so yum yum, the cat's lick them right from the tubes, and the furminator that any good kitty would adore being groomed with etc. etc.Yes, I even grow grass for her. I think the "hairball hac" makes me sicker than it does the poor little fat kitty. When my order arrived, it was not in the box with all the other items, but a short phone call and the great folks at Amazon issued a gift certificate to get another one with, and I did so as soon as the certificate appeared in my account, that's how anxious I was for this to work. Alas, while she does enjoy the massage she gets, it doesn't remove any hair. Maybe it's because she's rolling around making sure I get just the right spot, I don't know. She fights me thru the entire furminator experience, but that's only because she's not a sweet little kitty who likes to be picked up to sit nicely in place while she's groomed. This cat you have to get a good grip on to groom. She detests being picked up for any reason at all, and certainly feels she's under no obligation to endure being brushed by ANYthing when it's not in her control to walk away when she feels like it. (Although she is purring very loudly during the entire struggle) and her furminator experiences, while removing huge amounts of undercoat, leave her looking like she's had a bad layer cut because of her constant struggle to be free from any arms that restrain, no matter how loving said arms may be. I needed to find something else....Therefore I was so hoping this would be an easy experience for both of us, and it was, comparably, but it was not a hair removing experience of any kind, good or bad. It may very well work for a less spoiled furbaby, one who's less determined to dictate where she will be massaged and for how long she will put up with it, or one who doesn't roll from side to side rapidly, making sure you don't attempt to groom that fuzzy little tummy in any way whatsoever.. So, because she's so irked at me about the furminator fun, [she runs the minute I lean down with anything in my hand that looks like it might be a grooming tool] she's probably not the ideal reviewer either. If you have a placid kitty, it's worth a try. It may very well be the greatest thing ever, sadly I will never know.
