The Party Crasher
It was different from any other book I have read but I took it all in and I hope to learn from it.

Lost her touch for me...
Not sure how I feel about this book. It was easy enough to read and I got through it in less than 24hours so that's a testament to Kinsellas style of writing, but it just left me feeling a bit blah. I'm glad it ended mostly happy for everyone - I'm a sucker for a cliche happy ending and some parts actually did make me tear up.. But the actual premise of it, the whole story revolved around something quite daft and there were some really silly (not laughable but more like, 'really'?!) unbelievable parts too.I was a great fan of Kinsella her happy laugh out loud books - workaholic series, can I keep a secret, twenties girl were some of my favourite feel good books but I feel like she's lost her touch! Maybe that's unfair and maybe she doesn't want to do that style of books again but I wish she'd write under if not her own name then another pseudonym, so that I didn't automatically want to try and read her next book in just the faintest hope that it will bring some laughter again. For anyone who wants just an easy but somewhat unbelievable feel good book then sure give this a try but I think for me maybe this is time to say goodbye.

A joy to read
Sophie Kinsella never fails to make me laugh and smile and there were plenty of both to be had while reading The Party Crasher.I absolutely loved the concept of Effie crashing a family party, a farewell to the beloved family house, and being able to get in and out to rescue her precious Russian dolls, all in theory without being seen or any other incident. She's only not going as she's at odds with her father at the momenta, and especially his new girlfriend Krista. In fact Krista appears to be a bit of a nightmare, although Effie is the only one of her family that seems to be able to see it.To say her plan isn't as simple as it sounds is an understatement, and had it gone according to plan it would have been a far less entertaining story! For this is wonderful from her various hiding places, to the eavesdropping and the amount of secrets she discovers, and things she wishes she could unsee too. It's fabulously light hearted fun, pure escapism and totally what I love about the author. I just couldn't devour this fast enough, while in my garden during the heatwave. It's another absolutely joyous story from one of my favourite authors.

Light hearted, funny read. Proper chill out, laugh out loud. As good as every other of her hilarious books.
