Solitaire game of daylight strategic bombing raids over Europe by the US 8th Air Force during World War II, 1942-45. Players must plan how best to damage the German war machine while also managing a flight of B-17s executing each planned mission, along with their fighter escorts. Includes 11 historical campaigns, a mini-campaign focused on one bomber surviving a 25-mission tour, a solo bombing mission focused on one bomber in one mission, and Down in Flames solitaire rules so that that game system of air-air combat can be used to resolve air-air combat (if desired; ownership of DIF required). Includes 336 cards, 6 counter sheets, and 1 mounted board. Fast playing, 30min/mission.

Good fun! Easy to learn for my first solo war game.

Worth the learning curve
Excellent components and immersive narrative gameplay, assuming you have a strong interest in this aspect of WWII. There are ample internet video resources available on Boardgamegeek to assist the player in learning how to play the game. Definitely worth the effort.

well thought out game design with quality components
I really like the game and the research that went into it. It was obviously a labor of love for the designer and developer. And very suitable for solitaire! For that it deserves 5 stars+. But I also have to say that it seems to be overpriced, thus the 4 stars. If it turns out to be one of your favorite games, then you probably won't mind the price. And I've noticed that games like this, as good as they are, sometimes go out of print. If you like war games and want this, bite the bullet and buy it. If you are considering it for a gift, be sure (meaning you're getting a big hint or an outright request).

Love playing this, over and over.
This is a wonderful operational-level game. Your choices of which targets to hit, which bomber wings conduct the missions and how they go in loaded out are the backbone of the gameplay, as opposed to other Leader games' focus on tactical aspects of warfare. It makes for a nice change of pace, and if you prefer the latter, I'd recommend Target for Today. I own Target for Today and Target for Tonight as well as B-29 Superfortress and its Hell Over Korea expansion. If you prefer narrative and tactics, look at those, this is more strategy focused. In the vein of Target for Tonight, I'd love it if DVG produced a Lancaster Leader which mirrors B-17 FFL the way TFTonight mirrors TFToday.

Quite a good game.
I quite enjoy B17 Flying Fortress. DVG seems to have really done a good job in producing quality solitaire WWII games.Game is well thought out and very enjoyable. After a mission, you almost feel like you "were there" over Germany in the early 1940's. Highly recommended.

Great solitaire game
Very interesting solitaire game. Watched a few how to play videos on youtube and ran through the rulebook and was off on my first campaign. Enjoyable and recommended.
