Comfortable, easy to inflate, easier to deflate than others, thick
We already have a 10cm SIM and, happy with it, we decided to buy another. That particular brand was unavailable so we decided to go with this in a similar price bracket.Being able to compare the 2, this one inflated to a slightly thicker size (both are 10cm SIMS). Both are easy to inflate but the Vango is easier to deflate because it has a valve that can be spun round to be either open or one way (lets air out but not in). The other mat only has either 'open' or 'closed' valve so draws air back in as you are trying to squeeze it out, meaning you have to roll up & get cap on fast before it re-inflates. This you can properly squeeze all the air out without it drawing any back in. Although the vango valve is plastic and looks worse quality than the brass one on my original mat, it's actually better. The mat is much much comfier than other options I've tried (air beds and camp beds). No real difference in comfort levels between the other SIM though, that is to say they are both very comfortable. And I'd recommend going for the slightly wider size as I did so can roll over without end up off the mat.My only minor criticism would be it didn't come with instructions.I've since seen that you should 1. leave it flat with cap off for 24hrs before first use 2. Let a little air out to find comfort level before sleep, and 3. should leave cap off in hot weather to prevent over expansion.Plus it took a minute to realise you have to spin the valve to inflate - just taking the cap off does nothing. Not sure if our instructions were missing or whether they're not actually provided.

No instructions with it
Extremely comfortable. Move the orange disc under the screw lid to self-inflate

Thick and comfortable
I was impressed with the apparent quality of the mattress on unpacking it, and it quickly inflated itself. I left it with the valve open for a week or so before use to ensure it was fully unfolded. I didn’t notice any chemical smell on unpacking. When it came to packing it down, the clever little valve worked well, enabling me to get all the air out with only two sets of roll-and-squash. It’s quite a bulky pack but not too heavy, fine for car camping. On the campsite, it quickly re-inflated without intervention from me and I just closed the valve after a couple of hours. I found that comfortable and slept very well indeed. So far, so good and I am happy with it.

More comfortable than I thought it would be.
Having not camped since my mid teens some 40 years ago, maturity (thats a laugh! okay the addition of more years!) drives a desire not to sleep on the ground. I did purchase a camp bed for that very purpose and this was to go on top!I know, I'm not ruffing it for anyone.Anyway camp bed went back because it didn't fit the tent.So this is on the ground. The self inflation is not as good as it could be. you defiantly need to put more air in. You can of course blow into it. But you will be adding moister to the inner foam. I purchased LEXTAILGEAR MAX PUMP 2020 Portable Air Pump with 3600mAH Battery USB Rechargeable Air Pump-Quick Inflate Deflate for Air Mattress, Pool Toys, Floats, Swimming Ring, Air Bed, Vacuum Storage Bags for the job.If you get the mattress get the pump too. Check the lightening deals! So once inflated you do not know you are only a few centimetres off the ground. I sleep on my side and my hips do not touch the ground. I feel very comfortable.Deflation and packing away is a breeze.

The valve leaks
Ordered two of these. Returned both. Very comfirtable when inflated, but not fit for purpose as neither stayed fully inflated overnight. The leakage was so bad it was audible from the valve - air was escaping that quickly. They either have QC issues, or this model has a serious design flaw. An "airbed" with a valve that continually lets air escaoe continuously is somewhat less than ideal in a product that is hardly "cheap".Contacting Vango Customer Services was equally unimpressive. I carefully explained, in great detail, the problem in two seperate enails over the course of a month. In both instances the reply took over a week and in both cases I felt i was being politely told "not our problem".So to summarise :in THEORY, brilliant;:in PRACTICE, absolute pants (for want of a better word!).Ended up getting a different product elsewhere, similar spec, but one which doesn't leak., thankfully.

Excellent!!
I should have bought one of these years ago. Sleeping on a "normal" mat means I rarely sleep well, and usually wake up with back ache.I've only used this for three nights in a tent so far, but they were three comfortable nights, and I slept very well. The only mistake I made was not taking a small traveling pillow. It is big when rolled up, so have a good look at the dimensions and make sure you can carry it. I took it on a motorcycle trip, even though it took up a lot of space, it was totally worth it.It seems very well made and the large valve helps with inflation and deflation.

Comfy but quickly leaks and becomes useless
Barely had it 4 months before air begins leaking in seams / corners. Happened to similar Vango one before this but that at least lasted couple years before the issue. Will avoid from now on

The perfect mat where comfort is the priority vs portability. But fabric colours prone to marking?
Supremely comfortable and easy to use all be it only for home or car use as it is so bulky and heavy. My only reservation is the colours of the mat....light green on the top especially, that it would be prone to marking in a camping environment. For this reason I returned it and got a darker colour but had to pay a but more for the equivalent 'Comfort' model elsewhere. Otherwise the perfect mat where comfort rather than portability is the priority

Vango Odyssey Matelas autogonflant
