Helpful and chicken-friendly advice
As a new hen keeper I was very pleased to discover Dalia’s YouTube channel. She taught me a lot in her cheerful, and always caring, manner. So I was thrilled to discover that her book was available in the UK. I’ve not been disappointed. The book is written in the same friendly tone that she shows on her YT videos. In the same caring and non-judgemental approach it gives practical and economical advice and tips. Dalia believes in using nature instead of fighting it. The book reminds us that we don’t have to fork out lots of money for branded (and often environmentally unfriendly) goods and can use the easy remedies and recipes that have suited generations of hens and their keepers before us. A wonderful book that I’d recommend to everyone!

As a new chicken owner I have watched countless chicken YouTube videos. That’s where I found the author of this book. She does is great job of outlining important things that are good to know if you want to own chickens. Love her videos and find this book gives me a quick reference for things I want to find. GORGEOUS! Perfect for the newbie (or the oldie) who want more "hands on" in the care of their flock.
The media could not be loaded. I really enjoyed perusing and reading this book. The author did a very nice job putting this together. It was informative, entertaining but also reflective. It made me want to be a better Chicken Mommy. lol I have read a bunch of books on chickens and this is a great resource. I am glad to have it on my shelf. I don't agree with all of the author's ideas, but I will be going back through and bookmarking all the helpful tips and information that I will need later. The only confusing illustration I found was on page 72. The "Too Cold" and "Just Right" look exactly the same-other than that, the illustrations and photos and colors were beautiful. I am a visual learner and I would have been happy for even more because they were delightful to look at. Overall, the book is a handy tool for chicken lovers. Dalia, I am glad you wrote it and are "changing the world" for the better! YeHoVaH bless you!

Great for new chicken keepers! Dalia is the best!
I live in the suburbs and I’m entering my third year of backyard chicken keeping. Four years ago I knew NOTHING about keeping chickens and was given a different book by The Chicken Chick. I won’t say The Chicken Chick’s book didn’t have helpful information in it, because it certainly did, but I will say I was very intimidated by the information in the book and got the impression that chicken keeping required a lot more effort and money than I had the time or funds for. Fast forward a year and I decided to dive in regardless of my concerns and just do my best with the time and money I had available. I’ve learned a lot on my chicken journey and I eventually stumbled upon Dalia, The President of Chickenlandia, on YouTube. I love her approach because it really meets me where I am. I don’t have a $3 grand chicken coop on a foundation of sand lined in hardware mesh, but I do have a $300 used cedar tractor coop that has provided a secure home for my chickens for almost 3 years. My chickens live a happy life in my yard and I smile every time I look out at them. My kids have learned a lot helping me with them and I hope one day they feel they have the information and skills they need to keep their own chickens. I think if Dalia came by my house to meet my chickens she would give me a thumbs up. Dalia’s approach is that if you’re providing a clean environment with the level of shelter and security you can afford, you’re providing a superior life to chickens than they would ever have in a factory farm. I recommend her video on what a typical day looks like keeping backyard chickens. That was exactly what I needed four years ago! She goes over this in her book too. I love Dalia’s joyful spirit, simple instructions and her natural, down to earth approach to chicken keeping. Yes, most of us can keep chickens! I wish Dalia’s book was available four years ago so I wasn’t scared off from chicken keeping for a year! This book is great for those getting started with chickens. I bought it as a gift for family that is thinking about getting chickens. I bought a copy for myself too so I knew what I was handing out. I’m happy to have it in my library for basic chicken care and I’m looking forward to trying out some of her homeopathic recipes.
