Small, but cute & fun!
I wasn’t looking for a giant water mat especially since I wanted to see if my baby would like it first. This is a super cute water mat & I haven’t had any issues. The smell is pretty strong when you get it out of the box, but I let it air out on my porch for a few hours & it was fine after that! I haven’t had any water leaks, air problems, or any difficulties at that. I did add vinegar bc of what I read - to prevent molding I guess, so we will see!

Great for tummy time! Definitely recommend!
I love this mat! It has kept my daughter occupied for many weeks now! She loves hearing the water sloshing around, and the little shapes moving around inside! This is a perfect tool to use to get babies more interested in tummy time! My daughter was not super into tummy time, and as soon as I gave her this, she didn't mind it at all! The colors are vibrant, the air has stayed in it, there haven't been any leaks. When I first filled it up, I didn't fill it as much as I could have, and that's definitely not right. It's more fun and the shapes move around better if there is just a small air pocket left in it. After I filled it up all the way, it made more sense. We have a little foam mat area where my daughter plays, and we keep this there, and our dog has stepped on it several times and it has not popped or torn (and he is an 85 pound lab!) Overall, this is a great toy and a great tool to use to get babies to like tummy time or even just to enhance it if they already like it.

Pretty good, but don't leave child unattended.
I got this for my 5 month old and he loves it...a little too much I think. He is at that age where he wants to put everything in his mouth and he aims for the plastic fish floating inside and just goes bobbing for them. With his drool, he makes a pretty good seal against the plastic and I spend most of the time picking his face off of it to make sure that he can still breathe. Because I do this, he gets frustrated at me. He's almost sitting up now, so i try and prop him up with his feet on the mat so he can grab and kick at it. This will get the attention of children, but you just have to be careful with how they interact with it, and never leave a child unattended with it. But it has helped with tummy time quite a bit, as my child wasn't good at doing his tummy time, and he would gladly play and push up on this for 10-15 minutes. Also, it is a bit smaller than I imagined, but it is big enough for it's purpose, so I can't complain too much.FILLING INSTRUCTIONS: Please read some of the other comments here about filling (no need to submerge) from the tap or a hose, it's easy once you know how to do it, but there are no instructions that come with the item.Update:After 3 months of use, the outer ring that is filled with air obtained a leak somehow and deflated. My 8 month old boy still loved this toy, but started to get a bit rough with it which makes me not surprised by the leak. I decided to cut open the toy and dispose of it, but keeping the inner plastic toys for my son to play with, which he enjoys them very much. This toy isn't likely going to last you more than a couple of months but if you are having trouble with tummy time, this is a good tool to help with that issue.

Perfect for tummy time haters!
*UPDATE 8/25/18*It has been EIGHT years since I originally purchased this mat. We originally purchased this for our son and then used it with our now 4 year old daughter and we are currently using it with our 7 month old daughter. I am getting ready to order a new one because the original has just now sprung a leak. After 8 years and 3 kids. My youngest daughter adores this mat and returns to it time and time again. For those reviews that mention it is hard to fill, mold, etc, etc, etc. Clearly, we have never experience any mold issues or I would not have kept it for the better part of a decade haha. We just add a little bit of vinegar and it's fine. Yes, it is a pain to fill but it's easier to fill than it is to get most toys out of retail packaging which says something. And if you use the vinegar then you only have to struggle through filling it once. It's still so worth every penny. I recommend it over and over again. Just buy it. You won't regret it!Original ReviewMy 3 month old son absolutely despises tummy time. I ordered this product after reading other reviews about it and deciding that it was worth a try. We tried it out for the first time today and it was a HUGE hit! My son actually pushed up and held his chest and head up off of the ground for a considerable amount of time. He seemed to enjoy the fish floating around and was completely captivated with the little sun on the outside edge. AND - after pushing up several times he rolled over for the first time ever!! We had decided when we put him on the mat to start filming him and now I am so glad we did as we caught it all on video (flip camera also a great investment!). We have since put him down for more tummy time and he still seems to really enjoy seeing the creatures float by and pushing himself up on the mat. I am so completely satisfied with the quality and performance of this item and strongly suggest you buy it immediately especially if your baby hates tummy time.
