Chemistry: Investigate the Matter that Makes Up Your World

Great intro to chemistry
I am very excited to use this with my eighth grade daughter for homeschool science. We started the year with a traditional physical science text book but she found it extremely boring so I opted for books covering the same basic materialist on an individual basis and this was one of them. It is very colorful and even has fun easy experiments that can be done at home. Further there are questions throughout the chapters that can be used to test her retention of the information. I have started reading the book myself and so far it seems solid and I have not found any errors. It does not incorporate as much history behind chemistry as the textbook nor is it as in depth but this is an introduction course for her and so far I feel it is perfect for that.

Great Into to Chemistry and More
The start of this book throws kids right into the importance of significant figures and unit arithmetic-- things that took me WAY too long to be exposed to, given how useful they can be in lots of real world contexts. Tired of getting your unit conversions wrong because you can't remember whether you need to multiply or divide? No problem-- the method described here solves that perfectly.Oh, and it also talks about chemistry and stuff. :-)
