Great coffee European style: consistent roast, aromatic, solid.

Adoro questo caffè per il suo gusto unico. L'unica pecca è che sarebbe bello ricevere dei chicchi tostati più di recente. Questi che ho ricevuto hanno più di un anno.

Jacobs Coffee is on the top list of favorite coffee brands for my family. My Onkel Udo (Basel) from Hamburg sold Jacobs Coffee in the 1990s. My Oma Rosa’s favorite Jacobs variety was “Jacobs Gold” (fresh whole beans). My mother and I like the Gold, too. It is smooth and mild. It gives you no heartburn or stomachache. It is more a delicate flavor with less caffeine. It has a rich flavor, smooth tasting, and just overall a very nice balance of sweetness and bitterness. I have purchased twenty vacuum-sealed bags (fresh whole beans) and jars (instant coffee) of Jacobs (Krönung and Gold) on Amazon in the past decade. When I spent my summers in Germany with my Oma and family, Kaffee und Kuchen was one of my favorite parts of the day. We gathered often, if the weather permitted, at a big table in the garden to share fresh-baked cake and coffee and each other’s company. Our family bond was as warm as the coffee and sweet as the cake. Although, the German cakes were far from sweet, but you get my drift! There was a lot of love, laughter, and happiness. My Oma said the best coffee she purchased was from a small company in Würzburg called “Kränzchen”, sometime after the war, during the late 1940s. They roasted fresh beans everyday. When my Oma made coffee from Kränzchen, the aroma was so strong that the neighbor down the road could smell it! This is a true story. Unfortunately, they could not stay long in the coffee business and my Oma purchased her coffee from three popular companies in Germany at the time, which included Jacobs. My grandparents from Bavaria owned a restaurant and inn in the 1920s. Their restaurant was a great place for both men and women to meet friends and neighbors and sit down and chat over a nice meal with beer or wine or cake and coffee in the afternoon. When they had their restaurant, the economy was good and people were happy. It was called the Golden Years of Germany. The good years were short lived before the Depression came. Hard to imagine what it was like... It would be great to return to Germany one day and sip on a nice cup of German coffee in quiet at the same location/restaurant my grandparents once owned and cherish the moment. Take a stroll back in time.
