These things are great. Have had it running for over a year straight without turning it off and just now the bulbs failed. Purchased new bulbs and they are back to running great. Original bulbs are a little delicate but otherwise this is a good purchase. Definitely water resistant unless submerged. Had water dripping on it while it was on and no issues. Both worked for the same amount of time.

Every now and then a gnat or potato or fruit fly will find its way into my indoor dwelling and when I see one, chances are there will usually be more to follow. I got this for my birthday. The moment I see one. I plug it in and dim the lights and usually keep in plugged in for one night. I have had three of those things in the past few months, one yesterday. I opened the bottom today to check and all three were there. This thing is silent, and works like a champ for controlling and preventing indoor infestations. I had been using the apple vinegar traps, but it might be days before they finally take the leap with those. With this thing its overnight and unplug. Flying insects cannot seem to resist it.

Trying to keep mosquitoes down, and this works well. Easy to hang, up out of the way of kids and pets. Useful indoors, and maybe outdoors in a tent, etc. Not silent as advertised; definitely a sharp "zap" when a bug buys it. But reasonable, doesn't wake the kid. Also makes a cool nightlight.

Although I had a problem with my second order of this product, I have decided to be honest and fair. This product is definitely well made and designed. I definitely does it's job by killing thousands of insects in just a matter of days. After using this item for almost 9 months, it finally stop working, but after a little investigation, I found that it's blue light bulb is replaceable. Upon learning this, I ordered a few compatible light bulbs from a different company, which was a bit cheaper. I had also learned how easy it was to give this item a thorough cleaning, which almost made it look like new. I would suggest that when buying this item, buy a few extra light bulbs, along with it.

I had a big problem with not only mosquitos but carpenter bees. While it doesn't necessarily attract them, they did fly into it occasionally, especially since I removed the protective shell since these fat bees couldn't fit into the slots of the cover. The only interesting side effect seems to be between our bird feeder and this bug murderer, we seem to now be a Golden Corral of choice for the neighborhood birds, and the all you can eat fried bugs underneath this zapper has these fat birds crapping all over. They probably have high cholesterol like me now. After two years in rain, snow and having to clean it off with a snow brush every other week when it looks like Robin William's arm, it has finally gone dark. So I'm getting another. So I think it lasts pretty well, and is very very effective at killing bugs. The cord is just the right size for the plug inside the shed window, and it was easy to hang up and get going!

I've had this device for about a week and am totally disappointed. There are only TWO dead mosquitoes stuck on the grid and NO critters of ANY KIND in the catcher/ ash tray. To optimize results, I run it in a dark room (my bead room) with door closed, for 8-12 hours a day, or longer if I'm home. NO results. My office and bedroom are infested, so I sleep on the couch with a large sheet pulled over me. A WASTE of time and money!

I recently decided to attempt to use fewer pesticides and herbicides in my yard in hopes of doing less harm to the local fauna. But in Arkansas, like most southern states, we don't have normal mosquitos. I've seen small lapdogs taken by mosquitoes never to be seen again. So how could I fight these endless, determined, and ruthless foes? Some bands would say "Ride the Lightning", "high voltage", or even "Electric Avenue" but I'd prefer this product since most of those songs are overplayed. I'm no longer killing bugs that are ingested by birds only to cause more harm. Pros: - No environmentally damaging pesticides wreaking havoc on the food supply - No worry about chemicals on your lawn that may harm your children or pets - It only uses 15 watts! By comparison, your microwave generally uses about 1000! Cons: - Exterminating bugs using high voltage can, and will, make some sounds and pops - Avoid use if you plan on being near the light and ensure its well out of reach - Very affordable and cheaper than most sprays that may only last a few weeks

I bought two of the Meilen Bug Zappers at the same time, which arrived at the end of August 2023. They worked great, would turn them off at bedtime (Used outdoors). Cleaned them and boxed them up the end of October. Brought them out June 2024 and both have been working fine until today. One of them has a pink hue to the light, the other is fine. Amazon customer service stated it is past the return or replacement period and all they could do was give me a $4 credit toward the purchase of a new one. Considering the same unit is now $7 more to buy, that doesn’t work for me. I tried to find a website for Meilen for the bug zapper, could not find one. All it shows on the box is made in China. Disappointed in the short life on the bulb. Replacement bulbs on Amazon were almost as much as the cost for the new unit price I paid. Reviews were not great.

Sounds like a loud slap everytime something gets killed. Like it's trying to announce its victory. Very useful, keep it turned on at home to catch strays. Every half hour or so, something gets killed. I know I have more blood in my body in comfort.

Does what it's supposed to do.
