A Cautionary Tale about FASTREADS
I like Thomas Friedman but his books are long so I decided to take a shortcut and bought the Summary. It was the first Fastreads I had read and I expect, the last. Somehow I felt shortchanged. Having said that, I liked his ideas and wished I had spent the extra money to get the whole read.

Don't even consider buying this "book".
Let me start by saying that I loved the actual book "Thank You for Being Late" by Thomas Friedman. I attended one of his speaking engagements at a conference in 2012 that formed much of the basis of the book. I thought I would buy this summary for a chapter by chapter outline of the major focus points (there were quite a few and it was a pain to have to go leafing through the book to find my notes). I thought "hey, it's only $6.99, it has to be worth that...." Trust me, it's not. It is absolutely worthless, and reads as if a 9th grader wrote it. And if a 9th grader DID write it for other 9th graders - say, to use as cliff notes - for a class - then everyone who bought it would have failed their tests! I have never been as disappointed in a purchase from Amazon as I was for this "book." I could have bought a donut and a cup of coffee for less than the price of the this "book", and it would have been a better value. Snake oil anyone???By the way, it allegedly is 27 pages long, but it actually has only about 14 pages of actual material that is not an introduction, a table of contents, or just blank pages. The last page just says "END" and encourages you to write a favorable review on Amazon. I imagine there is probably a good summary of Friedman's book out there somewhere, but this is definitely not it.

Two Stars
I was disappointed. The "summary" did not do justice to the much longer book.

A note 5-Years from the future?
I have worked in IT for over 40 years but learned many IT-specific facts from this book that I had no clue about. Here is one tiny example: Google software developers are 5-years ahead of everyone else. This is an important point because in 2003, Google published a general description of GFS (the Google File System) in the journal of the ACM. People reading that article perceived the information contained within as a message from the future then built big-data projects like HADOOP. Technologies like these facilitated the implementation and management of cheap storage which then enabled applications like Facebook and Twitter, to only name two of many. BUY THIS BOOK if you want to get a glimpse of where the world is headed

This was a complete waste of money
This was a complete waste of money. Won't be buying any "Summary" books again. Or perhaps the actual book on which it was based was the true waste. Unfortunate, I like Friedman's work.

A brief summary
Well summarized. Perhaps a little more detail might have been helpful.
