HAND WASH ONLY versus dishwasher safe?
We specifically chose this product because the description on the product says it can be washed in the dishwasher. We ordered 3 of them and when we received them the packaging clearly states "Hand wash only". Disappointed. Will keep them and run them through the dishwasher and see if they last. The actual packaging also states that these are stainless steel wires so we are somewhat hopeful.UPDATE: Upgrading this from a 3 star to a 4 star review as they do seem to be holding up just fine in the dishwasher after several weeks of use -- even though these were labeled hand wash only for the product lot that we received.

BULKY! I wish I had Gotten Something Else
This was cheap, and I didn't need anything fancy so I got this egg slicer. Unfortunately the design of this slicer is very flawed. Instead of pushing down on the egg from above, it actually pushes the egg from the side. This results in it trying to rock the egg out of the cradle. The thick plastic edges make it hard to hold the egg in place (which you normally wouldn't need to do, except that the design pushes the egg out of its cradle, so you need to hold it in with your finger). Also, there is no cross-cut ability on this slider. A small change in the mold would allow you to rotate the egg and cross-cut (almost all egg slicers have this), but this slicer lacks this feature.Overall i wish i had bought something else. It was cheap though, so i guess it isn't the end of the world. I ended up replacing this in about a week.

Good solid egg slicer - awesome for making egg salad faster :D
I love egg salad. My family loves egg salad. But I HATE making it because mashing a bunch of rubbery hard boiled eggs is a pain in the butt. Instead, I use an egg slicer. I put an egg in and slice, then - holding it all together - spin it 90 degrees and slice once more. It makes long shreds that are super easy to throw into a bowl and mash to make egg salad.I had a high end brand slicer that decided it didn't like my experiment to slice non-egg items and see what happened. It totally broke and so I figured I'd be a much less expensive one since I'm just slicing soft eggs here - but I was hesitant since this one was much cheaper and I thought maybe the metal strings would be flappy or wimpy. Nope! Just as good! And cleans up nice in the dishwasher so far without rusting or anything else inconvenient. Great purchase!

Ain't What It Used to Be
Our old egg slicer was with us for at least 20 years. Unfortunately, it finally wore out, so we had to get a new one. A lot has changed in 20 years: the price has sky-rocketed, the quality has plunged. This all-plastic model says it is not to be washed in the dishwasher and hand washing is a true pain since egg white manages to stick in the slots and ain't easy to remove. Doubt this one will last anywhere near 20 years, but do know that we'll want to pick one out in person next time and not rely on reviews.

So far it's doing exactly what you want it to.
I haven't had this that long so I've used it and put it through the dishwasher about 5 times. So far it's doing just what you want it to do. I figure that it is so cheap that if it lasts 6 months to a year I made a great purchase. I didn't want to spend 3 or 4 times the money and have it fall apart because I would rather put it in the dishwasher. This works better than the one I threw out because the wires started to get loose and rust. I got that one at the grocery store and I barely used it over the last 5 years because I hate boiling eggs. Now my store carries them in bags of 10 so I'm sure it'll get more use than my old egg slicer. If it stops working before 6 months I'll write an update otherwise if you see my review is older than that you can know this egg slicer would be a good purchase.

Good for use w eggs.
If you do anything with boiled eggs, then this will save you a step in rapid slicing. It's sturdy and easy to clean, and yes, you'll want to handwash this, as the heat from a dishwashing cycle could melt the plastic, loosen the cutting wires. Now, it is true that the egg moves slightly forward as you close the top of the slicer, and yes, if you use a finger to hold the egg in place (briefly), then all is well. I bought this as a replacement for an egg slicer that snapped a wire, you had to briefly keep the egg in place with that one as well. This was a direct drop-in replacement and works just as the original does, but seems a bit sturdier.

Making a mess
I used to have a great one from a big furniture company Ik** it worked pretty well until it was broken, so I ordered this one to replace it. You say, just an egg slicer, right? Wrong. Cannot believe this little thing doesn't work! To slice egg? This thing is unfortunately failed almost every time, hard to slice and make s a mess, who will think an egg slicer won't work? This one, cannot do it's job. Don't buy. Waste of money. I cannot return it because I found it out after the return window, regret.

It’s a fun lively color which is also great as my mom ...
I bought this for my elderly mother and she told me the other day she absolutely loves it. That is high praise from my mom who finds fault in everything. It’s a fun lively color which is also great as my mom is visually impaired. It helps her find it easily in her drawer.
