Wind of Change / Frampton's Camel

Excellent remastering
I've had both of these albums since the early 70s, but one was an 8-track tape which I no longer have a means of playing. I downloaded MP3 versions several years ago, but they didn't sound that great. Having recently read Frampton's autobiography, I was in the mood for these again, and saw this newly remastered set available. Really nice job, as the balance and clarity are really smooth. These sound better than the original vinyl, and I would rate right up there with a 2013 remix of "Tommy" and the recently released boxed set of early Fleetwood Mac albums.

Early post-Humble Pie Peter Frampton years
Peter Frampton finding his way, post-Humble Pie. While he hadn't reached the heights of FRAMPTON (his pre- Comes Alive! breakthrough), both Winds of Change and Frampton's Camel feature tracks that would become concert staples in the coming years: Jumping Jack Flash, It's a Plain Shame, All I Want to Be (Is By Your Side), Lines On My Face, Do You Feel Like We Do, and more. It's great to hear them in the original studio versions and realize how far they'd come in the live-in-concert performances we all remember so well. Beautifully packaged with fine sound and excellent liner notes. Recommended.

Good quality renderings of these early 70's albums
Thanks to BGO for brightening up the mastering on several seminal 70's and 80's releases. It has been quite a service. Here, the Framptons Camel release comes out significantly more listenable than early masterings, including the Japanese. Winds of Change, and Framptons Camel, show Frampton post-Humble Pie, but before the sensational Frampton Comes Alive.

Frampton Rocks on a These Two Classics
These are two incredible albums by Peter Framption, his first two right after his departure from Humble Pie. Wind of Change starts out with what I feel are some of Peter's best songs including Fig Tree Bay, the title cut and Lady Lie Right. Oh For Another Day is a great song, too. White Sugar highlights Frampton's Camel and is filled with great songs as well. Getting both CDs here in one package is fantastic! 70s rock at it's' best!

Doesn't stand the test of time
Wind of Change is not a great CD. I bought it many years ago, enjoyed it then, but it doesn't stand the test of time, unfortunately. Frampton's voice is limited, all he does is rhyme, lyrics don't make me step back and admire, and the disc just doesn't sound compelling and memorable. Some discs HAVE legs. To me, this one doesn't. Frampton's Camel is better. More collaborative, many of the songs are fine, some still sound great, musicians have some excellent moments, but he's just limited in his talent. This one is a keeper but I don't "have" to have this near the CD player like I do some many other of my classic CDs. Glad I bought it and glad the price was within reach.

The wait was worth it
Finally these are back out in CD and you don't have to pay $40 each to get them used. "Camel" is the better of the two albums, but "The Lodger" on "Wind of Change" is great. The sound quality on "Wind" is generally poor, but I guess you have to live with that. For $12 you can't go wrong.

Couldn't find the cd I had (may years after the vinyl...)...
Parfait. Objet conforme à la description. Délais respectés... Parfait.

2 CD package. Great pacakge.
From his earlier days, these two albums are hard to find at a decent price. This double package is far cheaper to buy than buying the albums separately.

Peter's Perfect Pair
Just after he quit Humble Pie, and a couple of years before Peter Frampton hit pay-dirt with his live double album Frampton Comes Alive, he brought out these two superb solo LPs which, to my ears anyway, far exceed the live album. It's hard to believe but I don't think they sold too well at the time, however the record company stuck with him and, I'm sure, eventually got their investment back. A great songwriter, accomplished vocalist and a hugely under-rated guitar player, these two records showcase Frampton's talents fantastically. Great rockers like It's A Plain Shame, White Sugar and the wonderful All Night Long sit alongside beautiful ballads Oh For Another Day, Lines On My Face and the achingly beautiful Don't Fade Away. Plus the string arrangements of Del Newman only add to the depth of these recordings. Inspired cover versions of Jumpin' Jack Flash and Stevie Wonder's I Believe When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever are also not to be missed. Now in a remastered double-pack, Frampton's first two solo records are well worth investing in if you missed out on them first time 'round. Crikey, one track's even got a Beatle on drums!

Von der erstgenannten CD möchte ich besonders empfehlen: All I want to be (ist by your side)Von der zweitgenannten (Camel) : das bekannte :- Lines on my face (mit einem hervorragenden E-Gitarrensolo im Mittelteil) - Dont fade away (abwechslungsreich) - Just the time of yearDie beiden letztgenannten Songs scheinen weniger bekannt zu sein, besonders "Just the time of year" sticht als sehr schöne, emotional berührende Ballade mit ansprechendem Gesang hervor.
