so much better than watering by hand
Our landscape contractor recommended these as the best way to water our newly planted trees. We went with the original rather than cheaper knockoffs and it is apparent that these are very sturdy and well made, and come with good directions. Fill it once or twice per week and you're done.

Great for new trees
I killed a tree last year due to under watering. These were great for the replacement tree. It’s thriving. I fill the bag every few days.

We have the largest Oak in the neighborhood
These are great for trees that need more water. We have a very narrow parkway, and the newly planted oaks were not getting enough water for growth. I have had my original one for 4 years. We just bought 4 more as the tree trunk grew. We zip 3 together and it works great! A neighbor stopped me yesterday and asked what we did for our oak. Water!! So easy to use. As water level gets low, we rotate and it drains completely. We di not experience excessive runoff. If it is slow, it doesn't affect us. We fill in morning and then take down in afternoon. I am not sure how long it took to drain

Treegators Work, But...
First of all, item is as described, promptly shipped. Seller is AA.However, I wish it were possible to buy 2, 3 or 4 (or more). I really needed 4, so a 3-pak was awkward for me. Also, I was disappointed to discover that the Treegator only trickles along one part of its lower edge so that it effectively waters only one side of the tree. Not what I was hoping for...

These are worth the price!
I wasn't sure I wanted to pay the higher price for these Treegators, but after one summer, I am so glad I did! I had some newly planted trees that of course needed more watering than it would get without these. I started filling them 3x per week, then after a few weeks, went down to 2 days for most of the summer. They are easy to put on the tree, and easy to fill up. They are such good quality, that they stand up on their own, even after all the water has been absorbed. I would guess maybe they took about 5-6 hours to drain. There was one bag that I just couldn't get situated correctly to drain right, so I just took an ice pick and added in another hole, which is about the size that the holes are from the factory. Then there was no issue. I'm very happy with their performance this first year. I am sure they will be fine next summer, too. I will take them off the trees for the winter months. It's very important to get these for newly planted trees. These are worth it!

Good idea but cumbersome to use
Good idea but cumbersome to use. We bought these because we planted 3 little trees at the far edge of our property where there is no water supply within 300 feet. Considering that, they work. But you must be careful not to have a tree that is still too small for this to fit around. We had to let it sit off to one side due to this. Water drains slowly, but don't think that it has a lot of water to last a week or so. We fill about 3 times per week during dry times. New trees need plenty of water for 2 years! This is going to be fun. We carry water in garbage cans to fill by draining off the back of pickup truck. We put plastic garbage can inside a metal one. Plastic for sealing the water in, metal for the support of weight. Next time we need something like this we will probably consider the donut shape that they have. We think those would be more esthetic and easier to handle.

The perfect solution to help new trees get established...especially in water restricted areas!
Having just moved into a new house, our 'trees' are small but need a good watering every week. Living in a water-restricted area, we had to come up with a good way to keep the trees well watered to get them established. These bags do the trick! They take a bit of time to fill but stand nicely without pulling on the tree. The construction is really built well. I expected the zipper to be some cheesy little connection device but this is really heavy duty so it's not going to unzip or rip out anytime soon. After the bags are filled, you can add fertilizer (as needed) to the water to auto-feed the trees - a big bonus to help them take root. The water does drain out in about 5 to 9 hours (which is clearly stated on the instruction label). That's a perfect amount of time to let the water seep into the ground gradually and get down to the roots. You simply leave the bags on the tree and come back in 3 or 4 days (or weekly depending on your trees - also noted on the instructions) and start the process again. These bags save time and direct water right where it's needed. New trees are expensive and this product really helps get them established so you don't have to replace them in 6 months because you couldn't get enough water to their roots.
