Excellent product.
Very pleased with it, battery lasts well, product is well designed and sturdy at a sensible price, a very good tool cuts well, shoulder strap is needed as is quite heavy and unwealdy if not used. Recomend it.

Vonhaus pole trimmer
Very pleased with this tool although it does have some issues. First of which it is top heavy and suggest using the harness for any long periods of use. The next issue is the safety cut off switch which has to constantly applied when operating which I find a bit of pain. On the good side the trimming ability isn't bad and the charging time for battery isn't bad either. The battery lasts approximately 35 - 40min when in constant use, so you may want to order an extra battery if plan to get the job finished. Thanks

Great Trimmer but heavy to use
A great hedge trimmer which was to easy to assemble. Came with a fully charged battery. All the reviews I saw pre purchase mentioned that the trimmer is heavy and that is true. It is heavy and the weight balance is towards the cutters which does make it hard to use for extended periods as there is no centre balance. The supporting strap helps but doesn’t alleviate the problem. Other than the weight it’s a great tool and cuts fairly thick branches with ease.

Everything works very well
I was a bit worried about the weight of the trimmer, as many people had complained about it, but in fact it is about a kg lighter than my corded "Flymo" that I've been using for years. Ordered on Friday, it arrived on the Monday, a day earlier than expected. Luckily I was at home, as (typical Hermes), stood the parcel by the front door, rang the bell and went. By the time I got to the door, no one in sight. It was simple to assemble, without even looking at the instructions. Had I actually looked first, I might have been quite confused, as they obviously hadn't been updated from an earlier model with quite a few differences. Battery came fully charged. Disappointed to find it's only 1.5 Ah, though it does appear to be adequate. Generally well made, except for the thin bit of plastic blade protector. That is easy to slide off, but a real fiddle to get back on. My biggest moan would be the "safety switch". My Flymo had the usual trigger, with the 2nd switch on the handle. Unfortunately, with the removable handle on this one, it cannot be there, so the 2nd switch you operate with your thumb. I find that most of the time, to get a firm grip, my thumb is below where the switch is, and my hand has moved up. Once going, you don't need to keep your thumb on the switch, but if you relax your grip on the trigger, the motor clicks off. I'm 84, (male) and fairly small, but can cope with the weight when used in the vertical position. As you approach the horizontal, you are holding a lever, with one hand pushing down on the trigger end, and the other hand holding it's total weight plus the equivalent load that is being pushed down on the other end. This isn't too bad if you are holding it at about waist high. But if you are having to hold it much higher, your arms will really suffer. All in all, a great tool for reaching those places that were out of reach, but I'll still keep my Flymo.

AWKWARD TO USE POORLY DESIGNED CAUSES PAIN.
Edited ,having to rewrite this after using twice, much reduced rating,as I'm in too much pain from using this thing. It does the job for thin branches, extends high up but its very awkward and heavy to use even low down as all the weight from the motor is on the cutting end ,so unless you are very muscular ,built like a mountain gorilla I would not recommend it,you get what you pay for, definitely not for the ladies......I am retired and used to hard work. There is no instructions for the body strap but it wasn't much use anyway wasted time trying to adjust it. Some of the job is nearly done for now , doing it in stages, there is a lot to do, overgrown, I really wanted to do it all in one go.... forced to having a rest because of the pain. ! its reasonably made for the price , BUT POORLY designed, its grossly unbalanced, unwieldy, the battery is powerful enough and charges quickly, but only used twice so far, cordless is a bonus, its quiet enough but a lighter design with the motor at the trigger handle end would be much easier to use ,switches are not easy to reach and should be nearer the U handle...which is in the wrong place anyway. You can buy these machines with the motor near the bottom handle end but they are much more expensive, sometimes with a very noisy petrol driven motor.......I don't want to spend too much its just for occasional use once I have it all under control. depends on your needs and fitness.. Frankly I would like to return it but seeing the trouble other customers are having getting a refund I cant be bothered , I don't want anymore stress on top of the pain I'm in...so I will have to grin and bear it just do a very small amounts at a time OR I may just cut the bush trunks down with saw..then keep it all trimmed with my small trimmer. NOT RECOMMENED AT ALL......

Better alternatives for the price
The battery feels like it’s in the wrong place. You can’t use without the pole. Gets heavy after a while. Power is also a bit of an issue, appreciate its a battery model but still a beak weak. Easy to assemble and feels good quality. Given the chance I’d go for another

Good Hedge Tool
A good, extendable hedge cutter and not light, especially when extended-but that is to be expected with all these pole hedge cutters. It does not cut thicker branches, only the very slim ones. It is quite manoeuvrable. The handle, I find is in the wrong place (should be higher up towards the cutting end) and is disappointing, so I hold the cutter further up on the foam piece of the handle. It is very easy to take apart and put together. Not sure how long the orange plastic levers to do this, are going to last as they seem rather flimsy. Wish that some bag/box was provided by the makers as there are several bits to store, with battery, battery charger, harness, pole and cutter head. Rather expensive for what it bis but it does the job-most of the time!
