A unique quality gift for the nature lover!
My son loves bats! He finds them fascinating, as do I.When I read an article from the Audubon Society that it is important to provide bats with a safe habitat, especially as more of our countryside is disappearing due to “progress”, I knew he’d love this gift! It’s a great way to care for God’s creatures who keep the night flying insects under control as well as some types of bats are great pollinators! This bat house is SOLIDLY BUILT from thick wood. It has ridges inside for the bats to hang from.I would secure it firmly to the side of a tree, your house or if you’re renting hang on a plant hanger that mounts on a deck rail but use heavy-duty zip ties to secure it so it does not blow around in the wind. I would imagine a moving house would be scary even for a bat! MThis would be an awesome gift for anyone who is interested in preserving wildlife, bird and wildlife watchers, children to learn about nature and even grandparents- anyone, really!Say yes to bats! They are our friends! ;)

Very Nice Bat Shelter
I actually purchased this shelter 3 years ago and didn't put it up until today. I needed a sturdy ladder, and we finally replaced the broken ladder. The bat shelter was very easy to attach to one of outbuildings. It appears very sturdy and has a lot of grooves for the bats to cling to. Hopefully, bats will find it and help with the mosquito population

Dirty box beats out cedar house
This house looks good; but so far no bats have moved in. I got this house because I have a loner bat that took up residence in a lamp fixture under the overhang the runs above my back elevated deck. The bat would cower behind the light bulb during the day when I was coming and going on the deck. I got the bat box to put up on a tree opposite from my deck. Then I waited .... and waited. No dice. I then decided to make a small house out of a box that was used to hold 12 small cans of cat food. I cut it, taped it, spray painted it, and put a bat logo on it. I also glued in a long sponge filter that is hollow in the middle (one that I had used to filter my koi pond). I placed the cardboard box under the eave near the light fixture. Within 48 hours the bat had moved over to the box. To my surprise the bat sleeps inside the filter instead of hanging to the outside of it as I had imagined it might. I still hold out hope that the bat will eventually move to the wooden box on the tree -- maybe after it finds a mate or some other buddies that are looking to congregate.

Mosquitos? Get a bat house!
So, I will preface my review by saying one should research the proper way to install a bat house before putting it up. To be honest, mine has yet to be properly hung, but it is painted black (which is suggested for my state). Bat Conservation International has some good references online about where to place them. Don't lose patience; bats may not move in immediately. Don't fall for the many myths about bats, just KNOW: they can eat up to 1000 mosquitoes in 1 hour! That's a pretty sweet deal if you can find it in your heart to see how adorably cute these mammals are and let them live a peaceful life in your vicinity. They are basically flying puppies! Which by the way ANY mammal can transmit rabies and "Worldwide, more than 55,000 people are estimated to die of rabies each year (World Health Organization), primarily from contacts with rabid dogs." So remember you still say, "AWWW" when you see a dog roaming outside...you damn sure have the same ability to do so for mosquito-assasinating bats. I just hope all our bat species still exist in 10 years given the awful human introduction of a new aggressive, deadly fungus into their cave homes. The fungus (P.distructans) is to them what the black plague was for humans. :(GET A BAT HOUSE

Cute house, still waiting on bats
It’s sturdy and well made, but apparently the bats in my neighborhood have moved to the suburbs. I have sprayed bat attractant, but the bats are still not interested. Hoping a bat family will eventually move in as it would be a great starter home.

Just waiting for my bats
Nice product. No assembly required. I bought two and the have been mounted in the yard (one on a tree, one on the garage). I hope to have some bats find it by the spring.

Pretty awesome little house
The bat house is constructed of a nice sanded wood with the audubon insignia burned on the front of it. It was a little cheaper on Amazon than a few of the stores I saw it at. As yet we have no bats but the houses were pretty easy to install since they came with the 2 screws that you just attach to the tree with. Pretty sturdy.

Nice bat shelter
Well made and easy to install. Now, just waiting to see if the bats take to it....can take a couple of years.
