I bought this mat because it could be returned. Yes I bought the mat because I've never done or heard of anyone doing accuppressure but I needed major pain relief fast. I have 2 herniated disc's and a bad hip all needed surgery but I say no because if my age (80's.) When the mat arrived it reminded me of the Indians bed of nails. I put it on my bed and bravely layed on it. I couldn't believe I fell asleep on it. When I woke up I was pain free.I told my daughter in law about it and she was as skeptical as I was originally. When her mat came she set it up (we put our mats in a pillowcase.) Neither one of us has returned our mat. Now my son tried the mat (he has no medical problems,) After using it he said he just felt totally relaxed. But knowing his wife's pain (yes she needs surgery too,) and that the pain is minimized he said if he ever has pain he'd go for the accupressure mat without giving it a second thought. Yes we are a family of believers. This all started with a mat that could be returned with no questions asked.Try it you'll like it!!!

Spikes aren't that sharp. It feels good but I'm not sure if it's sharp enough to be acupuncture.

I had to give it one star for comfort. What a crazy question for this item. It hurts! (but only at first). Once you learn to use it and move around (gently) on it, it's not that bad. It releases tension, and does alleviate some pain and leaves you more relaxed than you were before using it. If I use it right before going to bed, I don't seem to toss and turn as much trying to get comfortable. It helps me to fall asleep faster. It calms RLS a bit by sitting up on it so the needles are pressing into the back of the thigh and using the massage ball to roll up and down the front and inner thigh while sitting. If you do have RLS, it's good to keep it rolled out next to your bed in case you wake up in need.
