Pathfinder Pawns: Bestiary 2 Box

These are an affordable way to use miniatures playing your Fantasy RPG. I use them for DnD 5e rather than Pathfinder and they work fine. I do wish they would make their boxes based on levels of your player characters rather than a larger variety monsters. For example say your characters are level 2 and you may get 4 Goblins in the box - but you really need 8 for your encounter. If the boxes served the level of characters you could buy them as you need them (when your player's characters level up) rather than getting the full gambit of monsters (lower to higher levels). Now, it's posted what you get so I can't complain, but this would make their Bestiary Boxes more useful in my opinion. What it does do is have you purchase another set of add-on pawns (which is probably smart on their part). Overall, you can't beat the value however, and the art is very well done.

These pawns are great, and so far I have purchased Bestiary 1 and 2 and the NPC Codex boxes. They are very durable and much cheaper than miniatures. Most of the monsters from size small to huge are represented; no creatures tiny or smaller are represent, nor are figures of gargantuan or colossal. This is most likely because of the size the pawns would have to be to represent those sizes.The only problem I have with the pawns so far is that there are only one or two pawns for most creatures, meaning they work great for encounters involving one or two of a creature but not so well for encounters with a large number of the same creature unless you buy several packs. However, I was fully aware of this before I purchased them, so it does not hurt my rating at all.

I love these pawns! They are printed on sturdy, thick boards that are easy to punch out and organize by creature size, then alphabetically (e.g., small A-Z, medium A-Z, etc.). Each pawn in Bestiary Box 2 has "B2," its name, and its number written on it, so you won't have to worry about figuring out which bestiary box a particular pawn belongs to if multiple boxes get mixed up. The numbers and creature names are listed on the back of the box for easy reference.The pawns are beautifully illustrated, and there are multiples of common enemies. These are a really great, affordable alternative to buying hundreds of miniatures, which become extremely difficult to store and organize if you have a lot of them.Pawns are hard to keep organized if you punch them all out, so I suggest looking into a binder with trading card pages for organization, or search Amazon for "Stanley 014725 25-Removable Compartment Professional Organizer" if you want something you can really haul around. One organizer will fit an entire bestiary box.

Received it in the mail today, I enjoy the Pathfinder Pawns a lot and have ordered quit a few from different vendors tho I just seek the best price and shipping rate available. However this was probably the first time I ever had a below 5 star rating.First, the pawns are great def 5/5 worth except for the fact i had some cardboard "gunk" on my medium magma elemental (shown in picture) that showed no evidence where this gunk had come from as there is no sign of it being shown from any of the other sheets. Not too bad but quit a hassle to remove to which I'm just about to just leave the remaining gunk on due to me not trying to damage my mini.Second, I am missing a pawn. A Dhampire piece which is stated to have 2 in this box. Luckily I'm not seeing myself using them for any of my campaigns but I am not satisfied with me paying for a sealed product with a missing piece.Finally, out of all the sealed Pawns I have purchased, the plastic wrapping on this is different from the pawns used by Paizo, which has me thinking perhaps this was open at one point and the seller reused a cheaper plastic shrink wrap as the paizo wrappings didn't have the cheap plastic (or the warning labeling, which is not bad to have at all but was never on the paizo shrink wrap)The idea of this box being open and shrink wrapped again just doesn't seem right for me and could be the reason why I have cardboard gunk or a missing piece due to the sellers mishandling of the product for whatever reason.Sorry but all this is why I rated 2 out of 5.

It maybe unusual to write a review for an item, that I didn't actually receive, but I am very happy with the results. I received the wrong box of pawns, but the company quickly and painlessly refunded my money. I'll definitely do business with them again.

These are really nice. They give a good visual representation of monsters from Beastiary 2 without me investing a small fortune into die cast minis. My only complaint is when they printed the art to the poster board, they could have made the images slightly smaller. If you punch the pawns out of the poster board you will notice that some of the image is still trimmed off, which loses some of the detail of the pawn.

Paizo / Pathfinder products are fantastic and this is a great value. The pieces are made from durable card stock and the art work is amazing. Their are roughly 300 pieces included with this set, with over 225 being unique creature/art-work. The Bestiary sets include a selection of roughly 20 - 30 bases of varying sizes as well.I own Bestiary 1, 2 & 3 as well as the NPC Codex, the pawn collection for Shattered Star Adventure Path & the pawn collection for Rise of the Rune Lords Adventure Path. Assuming my gaming group stays together, I will collect all the Pathfinder Pawns from Paizo. They are that good.

Great as always. Good quality pawns with nice artwork.My only complaint would be the reason I had to buy this... Which is that Adventure Path pawn sets seem to assume you have all the Bestiary pawn sets and don't include certain pawns that would otherwise be included. I had really never planned to buy this, but felt I had to just to run an Adventure Path.

Came fast, was priced great. Just wish the product had all/more of the creatures available in the book.

Obvs great for Pathfinder. In terms of 5E, useful but less so than Bestiary 1. But way way more useful than 3 4 5. Probs 1 & 2 & Monster codex worth it, but Bestiary Box 3+ not worth it.
