Easy to install with existing valve as long as you have the proper kit for this model. I had to call Kohler and order an edition part to make this handle fit. I Ordered that part through Amazon.

IMPORTANT: READ BELOW
If you are like me and have an older style K-304-K-NA Rite Temp valve, you have to buy an addition piece for this or any other new handle trim to work. Kohler sells it on Amazon. It’s called a retro cap and it’s part number is 1307346. The brass piece on the end of the older valves is larger than the newer one so this cap replaces that brass piece, making it the correct size. I spent way too much time figuring this out so hope to help someone else figure it out faster. Pictured is my current valve to show that you need the retro cap if you want this or any other new handle trim to work.4 stars on the review because this information in the description would be very helpful. Also to echo what everyone else said, the faceplate is definitely plastic and the handle is metal. At this point, I don’t even care because I want something that works.

Plastic. Looked like it would replace our old Kohler trim but we were wrong.
By eye this looked like a perfect 1-1 replacent for our Kohler shower trim of about 15 years ago. But alas, it is too small to fit over the valve. Why Kohler has to make it so difficult to figure out which of their parts are compatible, I don't know. I think I'm just going to spray paint and lacquer the old trim.

Be warned, the base plate is plastic. Looks OK, but $80? Keeping it, but disappointed.

Easy to install
This was easy to install. The plate is plastic but the appearance is okay. The valve is metal and looks and works nice. It works well but the cost seems very high for a piece of plastic and one handle

Buyer Beware!
In the description of this trim assembly, it states the material is "metal". Only the handle is metal, the face plate is plastic. For $80, you would think Kohler could make both pieces metal!
