This thermometer was something I grabbed in a hurry as my current thermometer had become waterlogged and unusable.I was not expecting great things, just a working thermometer to hold me over until I was able to get another of my current favorite. This does the job you need it to do, it work in almost every aspect of the kitchen. I have used it to check my fryer oil, candy temps, frozen food temps, and of course meats. It is very precise and seems to find temps fairly quickly so you don't have to hold it for a long time.There are a few cons though.1) It is very flimsy. The housing is cheap, thin plastic that bends if you squeeze it any amount2) it defaults to Celsius. This is fine for the most of the world, I understand. But there should be a setting on it let the device default to Fahrenheit. Every time I turn on the thermometer I have to also switch it to Fahrenheit.3)The automatic turn off switch is terrible. Half the time it does not engage and I have to use the red power button to turn it off. If you close the wand portion and don't push it all the way in, it will stay on and run down your battery.With all that being said, it is a pretty good, non-primary thermometer. I will be hanging onto mine for oil and candy after I get another of my favorite.

I use this thermometer once. It took 2 to 3 minutes to come up to the temperature of the steak. I just tried to use it again and it it does not work at all. A piece of crap, do ont buy it.Update on August 12th: I was not going to bother returning the item for $10.00. But after posting the above comments, Lighting Mall contacted me on their own and offered to send me another unit without having to return the defective one. I still do not trust the quality of the thermometer so I declined, hence the 3 star rating. They have since refunded my full purchase price. I would rate their customer service as excellent: . Rating 5 Star for the service.

My husband has an A plus personality when he's cooking beef and chicken. We have purchased 8 different digital thermometer because most of them don't work well. This thermometer is a winner. It is very accurate and fits well in the user hands. The special feature is the long probe that goes into the meat. If the meat is in the oven the probe is long enough to fit into the meat without burning yourself. It works well with the barbecue also. Less chance of getting burned plus the fact the degree is correct. We are thinking of purchasing these for Christmas gifts. Enjoy

Love everything about it! Quick and accurate read-out, easy to clean, folds up compact for easy storage, and the beep is loud enough to hear in a noisy kitchen! Shipping was timely and it was packaged well.

It only lasted 2 years and then when I replace the battery it stopped working.

Works great. Had one before but somebody got it wet and it stopped functioning. Quick read out and very accurate. Plus, it uses a standard AAA battery which are dirt cheap. Highly recommend.

You have to remember to switch to Fahrenheit once you open it ( the default is Celsius) use it often when grilling and just recently on the thanksgiving dinner very happyWould buy again!!!

I bought one and thought it was awesome! It worked quickly and perfectly! Then my husband baked it in the oven, thinking it was like our old-style meat thermometer. He was horrified that the plastic melted. So I bought another, identical one. But this one fails! It reads about 20 degrees lower than it should when the meat is done. I have to throw it away now.
