Work well and look nice
I am successfully growing avocados with these glass and cork vessels and I think they are rather "classy". I guessed that keeping them topped off with water would be critical until roots have fully started. I've learned with other house plants that my watering discipline cannot be trusted so I "cheat" by giving my avocado pits a head start in sandwhich bags. I wrap the pits in moist paper towels and keep them in semi darkness until root sprouts are an inch long.Be patient if you take this route. Sprouting may take two or three weeks, maybe more in a cool house. It's probably not wise to seal the bags tightly as the growing pits may need to breathe a bit. Mine stayed moist for days and only needed to be watered once a week.

Literally growing mold on the cork in less than 1 week. .
Have had this for less than a week and started my Avo seed in it on day 1. First, the glass cylinder and bamboo base are nice, though not nice enough to make up for the cost when the rest is not as expected. The description says this is for using to germinate...but the cork quickly became waterlogged and is now growing gray mold on top. Unless you already have an avo seed with a tap root, you will have to modify this to use it. Cork has to be cut from the center so that water can reach the bottom 1/3 of the pit, but only sizing for the pit also means you will have to fill this to overflowing for the water to actually touch the pit. Like others, after finding money sizing to the pit wouldn't meet my needs, I also opted to modify/trim the sides so all could float further down in the cylinder (to prevent spills if it gets bumped), but the cork quality is poor and has absorbed a ton of water. When submerged enough to germinate the pit, the cork also stains the water brown within a couple hours after each water change which is not exactly attractive.

Is this a joke?
I bought this for a gift. I indicated it was a gift when I placed the order. It came in a beat up, crushed box that was stuffed into an envelope mailer. Inside the box was the wooden base, cork top, the glass section (unbroken), and a random piece of styrofoam. No instructions or paperwork about the actual product. Nothing says what it is or how to use it!!!I would love an explanation.
