pure gold nostalgia and very worthwhile for a play through
What a burst of nostalgia this Tamagotchi was in our house! It seems pretty faithful to the original, the screen is non-backlit and hard to see unless you get the angle just right, the resolution is low with large pixels. It feels solid. When you first pull the tab from the battery to turn it on we found the sounds were really shrill and unpleasant (just like the original). You can mute the sounds by pressing and holding the left button and pressing the right button whilst holding the left one and selecting off. The creature is very high maintenance for the first couple of hours of play time, hatching through infancy, and then the demands ease off so it's worth getting through it. So be clear, with my critical sounding comments in mind, this faithful Tamagotchi reissue is no masterpiece of user experience, but it's 100% pure gold nostalgia and very worthwhile for a play through.

A Bit of Nostalgia to Annoy My Wife
Ah the Tamagotchi. I am old enough to remember these when they first came out. People used to come into the department store I worked in back then, hoping we had stock. Sadly we did not, but I did have one annoying the heck out of me, beeping away in my pocket! And yes, these are just as annoying , but quite sweet too. I got one for my wife for Xmas. Oh how delighted she was to have yet another thing requiring her attention on top of kids, house, real pets, etc. But she kinda smiles about it. The system is simple and as long as you keep it near you it doesn’t take that much time to keep happy. All you need to is keep it happy. Check the happiness and hunger levels and simply play a game (guess left or right several times) and feed it (stick with meals and no snacks). Clear its mess up when required and tell it off if it’s being naughty. Over time your Tamagotchi will grow into a bigger character and last a random number of days. How well you look after it will determine what it grows into and how long it lasts. Typical is about a week. Thankfully the little pest goes to sleep in the evening until morning so make sure you set the time right so it doesn’t beep in the middle of the night! Our kids help out with it from time to time. The case is fairly robust. No backlight so can be hard to see in poor light. I think value for money is ok. I think price is similar to the good old days. Will you play it for hours on end? Doubtful, but it’ll probably make the person smile who you get it for.

Keyring entertainment
What a bit of nostalgia, given as Christmas gift. For what it is now, basic, but in its a fun toy, great to carry around and kept those who have it entertained. Seems to last for ages on battery, but then again it’s really basic pixels on a tiny screen!

Brought back some memories!
It's tamagotchi, so its fun. BUT! And it's a big but - the quality of it is cheap, and pressing the buttons is painful with time, aaaand the screen is kinda meh. So yeah - we had some fun, but it became annoying to use.
