I've owned a few different brands and types of grinders before, and these are quite similar. The last set I purchased had the exact same grinder heads, just on smaller glass bottoms. The grinders on those became, unfortunately, unusable due to clogging that resulted in breakage of the ceramic gear. I worry that, since these new grinders have the same heads on them, that these won't last longer than the last set. However, I read reviews of the "best" grinders out there, and these came just behind a more (much more) expensive set with metal gears instead of ceramic. They'd last longer, you might think, however, it was also mentioned that salt corrodes metal and so that's why the vast majority of grinders, mostly intended for use with salt, are made of ceramic. So why would I spend five times the price on the expensive ones? So far, I'm very pleased with this set. They're much more comfortable to use than my previous set, which had way smaller glass bases. I can really get a good grip on these. The little "dial" on the bottom, to adjust the coarseness of the grind, moves very smoothly on these. It was so difficult to turn the dials on the previous set - and mind you, these are exactly the same as the new ones - that I had to use a pair of pliers to turn them. Strange. I see this identical grinding mechanism on several of the grinders available on Amazon, so it makes sense to assume they're all sourced from the same manufacturer by different vendors. These also hold about twice the amount as my previous set - not a major hassle to refill, but nice not to have to bother with it as often. Quite elegant looking, too. The set comes with a nifty metal holder with prongs on either side that the grinders snap into place securely for transport from kitchen to dining table. They're inexpensive enough that you can easily afford to buy two sets for each end of your table. That's a nice touch if you're having several dinner guests or a large family, so you don't have to pass the salt and pepper around. I guess the $100 set with the metal gears might last longer, even with inevitable salt corrosion, but these will likely last a good long while with their ceramic gears and, if they do break down sooner, at least you could buy four or five of these sets for the same price. I recommend this set.

These grinders are seriously awesome, and I'm so glad I bought them. The little holder is a game changer for keeping them together, which I appreciate. Honestly, the size is just right, and they look really sleek on the counter. Plus, they feel super strong and built to last. They grind effortlessly and are easy to use, refill, and clean making them a great purchase. Oops, looks like it's time to refill the pepper! 🤣

I just love these grinders. They are the nicest ones I've owned and I've owned a few. They are well made and just what I wanted. I like that they are large and do not need refilling often. And also love that they are glass and not plastic. The messy counter is gone forever! They are so elegant looking. Even my husband, who never notices anything commented on how nice they look. Very happy with this purchase. I'm tempted to buy a spare set. Update: I still love the design and style of this grinder set, however I had to remove a star because I picked up the stand to carry it from the stove to the bar and the salt grinder tipped out and fell to the tile floor. It landed on it's top and unbeknownst to me, cracked the plastic. Several days later while grinding salt on my eggs the entire top cracked off and tons of salt landed in the pan. What a mess! That was my fault. However, the new set arrived last week and this set does not adjust. It just spins around. It is grinding ok though. So I won't go through the hassle of returning it. You get what you pay for. I would gladly pay more for something more durable. Still love the style of this set.

THIS SET, I LOVE! Absolutely love. When you buy something that you can't see and physically touch- You're always rolling the dice And whether or not you'll like what you receive.. I have bought a few grinder sets in the past, use for a bit and then toss, and back to buy another. This set is a keeper! It washed well, was easy to fill with a wider mouth opening and the grider worked perfectly. I also like having the ability of changing the coarseness, as our household members have different preferences. Looks nice on my table, and the stand was an added bonus. The size is large enough to not have to refill as often but not to big to look out of place. A good price, they look nice, nice grip and durability. I will be buying a couple more sets as gifts to those that have been here for dinner and mentioned that like them as well. I have no 'cons' to list on the product. I love everything about it. Look no further- you'll be pleasantly pleased.

Very nice unit, feels like a quality product. Pepper came in a bit course, but I was able to adjust it for a finer grind...I would buy this again!

3.5 stars. The grinders seem to be pretty good so far after using the first day, though I’m concerned about other reviews saying the glass randomly breaks, so I will update if needed. The grinders seem to be a pretty good quality. There is some plastic on them but does not seem to be in places that touch whatever you fill them with. I don’t really want my food sitting around in plastic so I was glad to find glass ones. We use Kosher salt as I’m allergic to many sea and Himalayan salts (due to their mineral content), and we have to barely twist the grinder the tiniest bit or it will pour way too much salt out, though we have it on the tightest possible setting. As these are probably designed with sea salt or Himalayan salt in mind I don’t necessarily see that as a flaw. The only real problem so far is the stand. I hate the stand. You have to use two hands to remove a grinder from it or the whole thing falls over, and if you don’t lift the grinder to just the right spot (the narrowest spot), the whole thing falls over. If you don’t hold the stand while replacing the grinder, the whole thing falls over. I appreciate the idea of the caps but it’s really just one more thing to deal with. I don’t feel like getting salt or pepper onto food should be a 6-step process that involves paying close attention to anything but how much salt or pepper I want on my food. Step 1: lift the grinder to just the right spot, step 2: hold stand in place and remove grinder, step 3: remove cap, step 4: grind salt or pepper, step 5: replace cap, step 6: hold stand in place to replace grinder. My child is not going to get all of these steps consistently and we’ve already had a lot of the stand falling over. So I will like just leave the caps off, turn them grinder side down and store them in my Le Creuset ramekins like I did my 20-year-old set I just had to replace. It looks a bit odd having the glass ends sticking up but it’s better than the stand constantly falling over.

I really like it! The larger size is easier to handle and can store more pepper and salt inside it, meaning it needs less frequent refills. The adjustable grinder mechanisms work very well. The lids are easy to take on and off. The caddy is a little flimsy, but that wasn't why I bought the set. If you are swayed by the caddy, then you might be disappointed if it receives heavy use (like a family dinner table). But the mills and grinders themselves are good quality and a great bargain.
