Good quality umbrella
High quality umbrella with heavy base. Wife and I are very happy with the outcome.I ordered the high-wind-resistance one. I did have an issue with the base pole (deformed, possibly during shipment). Got a replacement base pole the next day after reaching out to support.

Great product and customer service (update 9-12-23 about bent peg)
I’ve had the 10x13 umbrella just for a month, but had a 11 PurpleLeaf for several years. It broke due to high winds and user error :p but was still useable by a friend who lives in a less windy part of townThe size of the umbrella is fantastic. Both have smooth operating of the umbrella-opening and rotation mechanisms.A few weeks ago the handle mechanism (what raises/angles the umbrella) broke. At first I thought I could fix it, and took the handle apart. But a key piece was bentPurpleLeaf customer service was very responsive. They sent a video link with info on taking apart the handle. Then when I found the problem, they shipped a new handle to me without cost: China to USA via FedEx in 4 days. The new handle went on like a charm and we’re backing up and running. Thank you Tears for your customer support!I’ll update (either way) in a year or two about the longevity. Judging from my previous umbrella, I’m expecting several years of good use. Summing up: at this point quite happy with the purchase and customer serviceUpdate 9-12-23The handle again broke on this, same as before. The locking peg (that goes into the post and holds the umbrella at the desired angle) bent. Once again customer service was responsive and FedEx'd me two replacement locking pegs (it is a brown plastic piece [what you squeeze in the handle] that is riveted to a metal peg about 3 inches long).I am using it successfully WITHOUT having put the entire handle back because I anticipate the bending would happen again. As I told the company, they are using too soft a metal for these pegs: hence why they bend in reasonable wind gusts. But fundamentally the bent metal creates a problem for the handle assembly (which is designed to allow motion for the straight peg, not a bent peg) and not the actual locking function. The attached photo shows what it looks like. It is not too noticeable so I plan on continuing to use it this way, without the handle assembly. The piece I am using (in the photo) actually has a bent peg: the bend, as I said, doesn't affect function. Aside from this, happy with the umbrella

Tiny cloud of joy!
9'x12' with 38x38 sand filled base:If you have the option, I recommend going with the steel base. We have the 38x38 plastic w/sand fill 350lbs, which works great, but, it is inconveniently large. I used only sand because we live in Maine and I don't intend to empty and move the the thing seasonally. We'll cover and tether it for the off-season and high winds. The umbrella is fantastic. It is everything I hoped for. It turned an unshaded picnic table platform into a great spot to hang out.Set-up:The instructions were easy. Some pointers:1. If you use sand, make sure it is dry. One of my bags had some moisture in it and took for ever to stuff into the base. Dry sand is easy. Pours right in. I tilted the base on end to help keep room for more sand. COVER THE MOUNTING HOLES BEFORE POURING SAND. Otherwise you'll have to clean sand from the threads like I did.2. The 2-peice base cover was cracked. I just glued it... wasn't worth a replacement in my view.3. Weight: Standing the pole up onto the base was recommended as a 2-person job but my wife is tiny...so...I'm an old man (65) who is still strong as an ox...I just lifted the thing up and put it on the base pole by myself. I do not recommend this unless you ARE strong as an ox. The thing is heavy. Good heavy though.4. Stability: the first day I set it up we had 25mph gusts and 15mph winds...it was fine but we didn't leave it up long. My rule of thumb is, "If it is too windy to light the fire pit, it is too windy for the umbrella." my measure is under 10mph and under 15 mph gusts.5. Cover: Buy the cover. The umbrella is beautiful. The cover will keep it looking that way. Yep, you have to put it on and take it off...deal with it.

Concrete Mounted 10'x13" Umbrella!
I bought the 10' x 13' model and installed it this weekend. I decided to purchase the solid steel base plate that's typically used to mount on a wood deck, but used it to mount directly to concrete. I used Tapcon anchors versus stainless steel wedge anchors and they worked out perfectly. My wife just loves the shade we get on our patio. The product is very sturdy and appears to be well made. I sprayed "303 Fabric Guard" to provide some added UV and water-repellant protection.

Great umbrella, wrong part sent
Was very excited to receive umbrella. I ordered the metal plate to bolt into my concrete deck to save space. I was assured using the plate the arms would not hit the deck. The extend piece added to the base pole made it so the umbrella mast hole didnt line up with the hole in the base for the bolt. Once the extened piece was removed the bolt did line up but the arms hit the deck. Emailed Purple Leaf and they sent me the "re-engineered" base pole. I received it, took the umbrella down, and it was the exact same base. Not happy. I am now waiting on response from them. They have responded to my multiple questions before the purchase so confident they will respond. Just a hassle taking it down/up because the correct base pole was not sent. The umbrella is awesome and very sturdy and "heavy". Takes at least to people to place umbrella on base pole. Will update review after this last problem is resolved
