Easy to use, easy to clean, effective
Recommended by friends who eat Tofu often. They were right. A little pricey, but dependable, easy to set up, easy to use. Worth it.

Works great, but I have another that works just as well at about half the price
I've had this tofu press since 2010. It works excellently and gives me a nice firm pressed block of tofu. However, I have some concerns about its sturdiness. Mainly, I'm concerned about the plastic handle things that hold the spring loaded plate down. If only one of those handles break, this press will be useless. Because it's plastic, I've been careful with how I handle this thing. The plastic is thick, so I'm not exactly delicate with it, just careful. To be fair, with nice treatment, it has lasted me 11 years, and still works the same as on day one. My second issue is the cost of this thing. With shipping and tax it's around $60. Having two of these or replacing a broken one would be expensive. So, when I wanted a second press, I looked for one that was less expensive. I purchased a Tofuture tofu press, also sold on Amazon. The Tofuture works just as well as the Tofu Xpress, and it doesn't have the handles that I have to worry about breaking. I've had my Tofuture press for 4 years, and it works the same as on day one. Also, it was much less expensive. $29 dollars before tax and with prime there is no additional shipping cost. I also think it's easier to store than the Tofu Xpress. Some have questions regarding potential longevity of the bands on the side. The bands on mine are as tight as ever, and they don't seem to have loosened or stretched at all in 4 years.

A comparison to the Super Tofu Press (Easy Tofu Press)
So first, why do you want a press? The main thing that is offputting about tofu is the texture. However you can sub pressed tofu for meat and hardly know the difference once you remove the water. Great, for example, to used pressed tofu in place of meat in sloppy joes or pizza sauce--adding in a veggie and nutrients and protein without the stuff you don't want. Also great to sub for chicken in chicken parmesan. I have had this since it first came out, which must be 2 years now or so. I assumed any tofu press on the market would also be automatic until I recently borrowed a friend's tofu press because I was making loads of one dish so I wanted to do more than one block at a time.So let's start with the other version that's out there and the plusses and minuses of both so you can pick what's important. First, I will say I was vegan for years, then went back to being vegetarian, and am now mostly vegan again but I have a chicken sanctuary with rescue chickens who occasionally have eggs (many no longer lay and someone discarded them so they are not here for eggs, it's a byproduct of them being a pet) and I used to give them away but then wondered what the difference was really--so I will say I am mostly vegan once again and may be 100% at some point. So my tofu press gets A LOT of use because I am also highly keen on nutrition. So, the Super Tofu Press (AKA Easy Tofu Press) is cheaper. If that's the key deal, in this economy, than know that on every place I looked, that came in cheaper.I have no dog in this fight--no stakes in either company. Just tried both.If time is more important, you should know, this is the only truly automatic one. You do not have to adjust the screws as the tofu gets pressed, or hope that you don't adjust one side more than the other, you don't have to even think about it. The spring loading on this one from the top means that the smaller it gets, it self adjust to slowly keep pressing it down. At the correct speed. It presses more as it goes. This one has its own container so a plate does not take up your whole fridge that gets full of water and may spill out when you remove it. You can also marinate in this container. Not so for the others. With the other one, it was possible to press it too fast and blow out the sides so that it was no longer a cube shape. With this one, it presses it as needed and it has sides on the container so you just put the tofu in, adjust the spring, and it always stays in the correct shape, perfectly pressed. No springs touch the tofu on this one, they can get in the way on the other depending upon the size of your block. The Easy Tofu Press and Super Tofu Press (same thing) may actually last longer. I still worry about the plastic lid hooks that the spring goes under on this one and I am super careful. It has lasted for years and I have even bought one since to give as a gift that's lasted but it is a thought. Both are plastic though so who knows. Those would be the main difference I could see so you kind of have to pick what's important for you. Automatic is important to me and this thing is a real powerhouse.Do you firm or extra firm tofu.

yum
The shipping was super fast. I ordered this late on a Thursday afternoon and received it by Saturday. And I was really excited to see that it came with a booklet with lots of yummy recipes in it. It also works really well (reduces the block of tofu to about a third of its original size within a few hours). The only thing I'm disappointed about is that, for the cost, it seems pretty cheaply made. The two side clasps that hold the top down are really flimsy and feel like they can break off quite easily (and if either one did break off, I doubt that it would still be usable). To try to avoid breaking it, I'm just being very careful each time I put the lid on/take it off, and hand washing it immediately after I'm done with it to prevent it from getting crushed by other dishes in the sink.

Simplifies the preparation of tofu!
This thing is perfect! I have been struggling for a very long time to figure out an efficient way to press my tofu in order to prepare it for grilling/frying etc. This press combines the convenience of a press with a marinade dish to really simplify things. Here are some pro's vs. con's:Pro: The plastic is sturdy and clear and the spring coil is serious (don't play with it you might put your eye out). Mine came well packaged and the directions/recipe book provides easy to understand directions (it's not rocket science) as well as some cool ideas that I hadn't seen before. The design is the real benefit here, the press has a twist and lock design which is super easy and the lid for the marinade container conveniently attaches to the bottom of the main container so there is no searching for the lid for 30 minutes in the tupperware drawer if you're like me. Also you can use this press for frozen spinach or anything else you need to squeeze water out of - super useful!Con: It will continue to press the tofu or whatever until the water is sitting on top of the lid. You do have to tilt it to remove the water every so often. I sometimes wonder if the water isn't just reabsorbing if I don't till and drain it enough. Also even though the lid attaches to the bottom all the rest of the pieces are all separate so washing it by hand is just a little annoying.Even if you only eat tofu 2x per year this little device is worth having just to spare you the annoyance of creating a plate press for your tofu.
