The box it came in is pretty damaged but the contents appear to have survived. There is a rattling noise from inside the sockets but they all still work.The switch operates OK and lights up when turned on and powered.I haven't overheated it so can't say if that protection works, but it hasn't tripped for me so far.I tested a kettle that draws 2730W direct from the wall socket, and it drew 2480W from this reel. So there is some power loss - to be expected.The wheel spins with a decent resistance, so it holds its position but doesn't take a lot of force to get moving. The plastic on the reel feels good - it doesn't feel like it will break easily.The cable is flexible enough. Since it's PVC it won't be very flexible.I checked the wiring in the plug and it was OK. Crimped ferrules were used on the wires.

I have been needing one of these for a while, its really good and I am very pleased with everything about it . Good value too

Good length and easy to wind and unwind. It also has an on/off switch on the reel which is useful - good for extending my lawnmower.

Great for DIY jobs and working outside.

Very long cable but keeps cutting out and you need to press the reset button to start it again

Having had this extension reel for 2 years I discovered a problem.Using it on tour with a band in Germany we seemed to have electrical interference when using it... putting on a tester I discovered that somewhere between plugging it in and the outlet sockets on the reel the polarity becomes reversed, live and neutral are reversed.Basically it's wired up wrong!
