Dated Terminology
I returned this book soon after purchase because I couldn't get past the inappropriate racial terms. I tried to skim it for any helpful knowledge and tips but unfortunately came up way short. Really, really don't recommend.

a fascinating theological vantage point
From the very beginning, when Eve's long locks were first used to hide her tenderest parts . . . clear through to John of Patmos' hair-raising, wild-bearded revelations of the end-times, this book has it all. I especially like early Roman hair. Forget about aqueducts, those people were doing French braids before France even existed!

Thing you already know….
I feel like this book was useless to me. It talks about things anyone already know already. I feel like he copied from the internet. Lastly, I do not have a hair license. But I do have common sense.

Just a Re-release!
This book is just a republished version of his 1995 book "Hair: An Owner's Handbook" I was upset when I received this book because I already own the 1995 version. I returned it at once.

I bought this book as a gift for my wife who has long been unhappy with her hair as it has often been a little limp, dry and over processed (her words not mine!). I hoped this would help her at least understand a bit more about why her hair was this way if not what she could do about it. Having exhausted it of information she happily passed it back to me to have a read, and I have to say I found it a genuinely informative read (although my hair knowledge prior to reading was non-existent). For a relatively small book it packs a lot of information, with 29 sections (which I’d recommend you have a look on this page’s “look inside me” as you can see them all and see if they are of interest to you). The wealth of information means there is something within for everyone and I found myself skipping whole sections (such as pregnancy and toddlers) and going straight to the sections of interest for me. I bought the paper version of this book but it would certainly be fine on the kindle as there aren’t many photos and those that are there aren’t particularly informative or useful if I’m honest (mainly microscopic views of hairs). So the verdict, is this book useful? Well in short yes! My wife now dries her hair differently (as suggested in the book) and has noticed an improvement in the texture within a week (which shows just how much she was drying it out previously). There are certainly other tit bits of information she has taken on board, but this is the main difference I have noticed in her daily routine. So to summarise this is a great read for anyone even slightly interested in their own hair and if you have a Kindle I am sure due to its text heavy pages, this would be a good Kindle book too. Glad I purchased this, one to keep on the shelves for when any hair problems arise too since there are a couple of sections relating to hair problems and difficulties.

This book covers all the basics of hair care and scalp problems. It gives home recipes to every hair type and discuss all forms of hair treatment such as hair straigthening, colour etc. The chapters of the book are well divided and it covers everything you need to know to take good care of your hair. The book discuss hair conditioner and what is meant by it and the diferent types of hair conditioner but does not recommend specific products available in the market. Overall the book is very informative and I do recommend it. The author has also his own line of hair care products which can be purchased either at John Lewis or his website, though I have not tried the products yet.
