Every parent who has a child with any degree of a behavioral and/or learning disorder should run and not only purchase Disconnected Kids but this book as well. Dr. Melillo's first book, Disconnected Kids presents a new, noninvasive way of helping children given the diagnosis of ADD/ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia and other neurological disorders. I can't comment of the Brain and Balance Centers as we are fortunate to live in NYC and were able to be seen by Dr. Melillo himself.Over the past 4 years have spent a FORTUNE on so many different kinds of doctors and therapists to help my now 7 year old son but he was just getting worse. We couldn't figure it out. He was diagnosed to have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Disorder and Food Sensitivities. All the doctors we saw were the tops in their field and even though some provided temporary improvement along the way, none ever addressed what I now clearly understand to be my son's root problem: an imbalance between his right and left brain functions. As I read through the books, I not only got a deeper understanding as to why my son is having the struggles he is having, but discovered simple noninvasive ways to treat them!After seeing Dr. Melillo, we have tremendous clarity, specific exercises for our son's imbalances and equally important, a strategy to help our family heal! My husband and I are already incorporating Dr. Melillo's suggestions into our family dynamic because we understand that as treatment progresses and our son's brain improves, he will need need clear boundaries and expectations. It sounds obvious but when your 7 year old's brain is causing him to exhibit the behavior challenges of a 3 year old, trust me…. it can get tricky.

Wonderful book, I wish I had had this available back in the day when it would have been useful to me. At that stage the research hadn't been done, much less published. The internet hadn't even been invented. I found Reconnected Kids to be equally of value and importance. With all of this information now so available why it so difficult for this generation of parents to find help and guidelines. In my day I had to bumble my way blindly without any clue of it being either on the correct path or incorrect path.

Reconnected Kids is the perfect compliment to Disconnected Kids and truly provides families "the rest of the story". Dr. Melillo's brain balance program provides real solutions, hope and change for families and children that have suffered with physical, mental and emotional imbalance. Every parent, teacher and school administrator should read this book and spread the word about real solutions for ADD, ADHD, Autism, Aspergers, Tourettes and all the other labels on the spectrum. I was interested in reading the book to better understand why kids may act out as theyr brain goes back into balance. Allof the stages are explained so parents can know what to expect.What I didn't care for is that it can seem that parents are blamed for what is happening to their kids. While many parents may already blame themselves maybe different language could have been used so parents dont get deffensive and are more open to being proactive to make changes in their own lives for their kids sakes.Surprised, pleasently, that it is also a motivational book for parents to make those changes and gives good pointers to lead a happier personal life and family life along with our kids.

Might not make perfect sense from a clinical perspective but I put our daughter in the program and have seen improvement. Obviously the program doesn't succeed 100% of the time but 3/4 into the program we have seen improvement with our teenage daughter. Will post a follow up after one semester of high school. Our daughter does not appear abnormal in any way and is exceptionally talented in the arts but out of balance in getting acceptable grades to succeed in High school in math and science. She is actually asking for books for her birthday, a good vocal reader she had never read an entire book since her earliest reading years. Thank you Brain Balance

Biased towards author's view, but what isn't? He is getting real results in his Brain Balance centers and share's why and how to use his extensive knowledge and results helping kids.

There was a fair amount of good information in this book, but I was hoping to get a bit more insight some different areas.

This book is a wonderful resource for parents that need support and learn how to follow through. It is very inspiring and easy to read (if you are a busy parent)! Thank you for all of the work that Dr. Melillo has done and continues to do for the children and their future.

The author is a father of a problematic child, but he is as well a medical specialist. And he is not too proud to seek the exchange with colleges. So he developed a set of helpful tools. I recommend this to all parents that worry about the mental development of their children
