Bugs! Bugs! Bugs!: (Bug Books for Kids, Nonfiction Kids Books)

Color, Fantasy, and Science
I think this is a great book for children from birth to age 6 or 7. The illustrations are wild and wacky collages, showing insects with anatomical accuracy but also cartoonish personality.Eight insects are each described in rhyming phrases. At the end there is a page showing all the bugs in their actual size, and then there is a chart that lists the bugs and compares their characteristics (where does it live, how many legs, etc.) These pages add a "multi-media" aspect that keeps kids interested. The thing I like most about this book is that although the text is sweet and melodic, it has scientific content. Each phrase describes a real aspect of the insect (A long line of ants that work so much, Roly-poly bugs that curl up when I touch). The book also introduces pictoral and graph comparisons and the idea of taxonomy in a fun way, preparing kids for further studies in science.

SO cute and a great activity! Very educational
I bought a bug vacuum and this book for my son. He LOVES it! There is a page in the book where you can keep track of the bugs you catch. He's learned a lot about the different types of bugs (crawling, flying, etc) and it has become a great activity for us. He loves catching the bugs and then we bring them in and learn about that type of bug and write it down in the bug journal. I give this book two thumbs up! I am always looking for books that are educational and entertaining. I would suggest this book to everyone. My son just turned 4.

Awesome book
My son recieved this book as a hand me down when he was about ten months old. Since then (he is 17 months now) we have read this book to him every night as part of his "night-night" routine. The pictures are bright and colorful and the story line allows for toddler discussion. He loves it so much that when he shreds it past repairation, I just order another one from Amazon and it usually only costs me pennies. I kinda wish it was published in a board book version; I just ordered my fifth copy.

Bugs for children will be a hit!
The art work through out the book will keep a child's attention from beginning to end - it is so vibrant and reflects bugs in a whimsical but accurate portrayl. This book is also accurate as to the information that it shares with the reader about the different types of bugs. This is the perfect book for young adventurerers who want to go out and find their own bugs without any fear. Shared this with my 2 and 5 year old granddaughter's and they always ask to read it again when they come over. Just wait until spring and we can go out and find our own bugs!

Loved
This book is colorful and fun to read. I bought it for my daughters who were not quite 2 at the time and we read this book until it fell apart. Definitely a favorite for a long time.

Big colorful pictures
This book would engage a very young child, even a few months old. The pictures are bright and the wording simple. It might not be a book for a 3 or 4 year-old who could enjoy more detail in the story.

Love this book
Love this book! I read this to my preschoolers. They love all of the bugs. We also read it and then get up and move like each bug. This book is requested often in my classroom.

Awesome. Great pictures throughout and real info in the back.
Got this for my granddaughter's birthday and she loves it. We read it over and over. She loves bugs so much that we call her Lexi-Bug.
