These Really Work!
I own two of these Air-Dryr 1000s, one to freshen a musty foyer, the other to freshen a musty closet just beyond the foyer. Obviously the Air-Dryr works best in a small, enclosed space--it cleared up the musty closet in two days. The foyer is larger, so it took the Air-Dryr about a month to get rid of the musty smell there. Operation is simple: you just plug the unit in and let it work. The unit gives off a gentle, continuous dry heat—not enough to burn the floor or your hand—and since it doesn't draw water from the air like a dehumidifier, there is no pan of water to empty! The units were bigger than I had expected—roughly the circumference of a large pizze, and a few inches tall—so they look pretty conspicuous on the floor as they're doing their job. But they really work, and that's the important thing!

Well worth the price
This is a high quality product. I live one block from the pacific ocean and the humidity is a problem. I use these, yes these! I have many! I have one in each clothes closet as a dehumidifier! They are totally quiet, with a mild amount of heat—just enough to keep my closet free of humidity. The interior silent fan is just right to move the heat up and out through the holes. They keep the closets dry! Perfectly so. . I love these! You will too.

Very effective, a game changer for boat and garage
I don't write many reviews but this product is so simple and effective I had to share my experience. If you're considering it, you should get it.I got it for my boat, and it works very well. Inside my covered 23 foot open bow wake boat, it will dry the interior and cover after rainy and very heavy morning dew conditions within hours. I don't know why I didn't get something like this years ago! Even from the outside, you can see where the cover is drying and does so at a massively faster rate than leaving it up to mother nature. On a whim I tried it in my garage. After driving in the rain the garage floor and the car was dry by the next morning. When we pull our cars in on rainy days the garage can stay wet for several days. There are no moving parts so nothing to break, unlike other products I looked at. So I'm feeling good about the potential longevity of this product, too.

Very Effective
I placed the air dryer inside my boat cabin to lessen the dampness and musty odor. I also hung a Damp Rid bag. After 3 days the odor was greatly reduced and there was no water in the bag. Very pleased and highly recommend.

Good alternative to dehumidifiers
We use this in our bathroom to speed the drying of clothing that we hang to dry after using our little Haier washing machine. This does a pretty good job of removing the moisture from the air. As other reviewers have stated, it also increases the overall temp of the room as well.It doesn't remove as much air moisture as a normal dehumidifier does/would, but then again, this thing is a whole lot easier to store when not in use than a floor standing dehumidifier - an important consideration for those who live in smaller homes and have limited storage space! When not in use, we just put this on a shelf in our linen closet. And it also has helped reduce the mold that likes to creep into our tub/shower. Our bathroom is not as well ventilated as it could be...we're upping the vent fan from 70 CFM to 100 CFM in hopes that there won't be ANY mold. But I plan to put this little thing to work in winter to help with that as well.If you're looking for this type of "appliance", it's a good item for a fair price that does just what it is advertised to do. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is that it seems that for the size (about the size of a medium pizza, as another reviewer put it), it should do a better job and remove more moisture, or at least remove the amount more quickly. But this is a very minor nit...don't let it stop you buying this if you're in need of it.UPDATE 12.23.11We decided to put this in our boat over the winter, to try to keep mold down (we've never experienced MUCH mold, but what we have gotten has been a pain to clean up/clear out each spring). With our mooring cover on our boat, we haven't gone all the way into our boat to do a thorough check, but lifting up the end corner of the mooring cover and cockpit cover, and doing a look-see, we can feel the heat being generated by this little device. Seems to be working well....spring 2012 will tell us the real results. But, having read reviews by others who have used this device to combat mold and humidity (esp. down in Florida), we're confident that this will work well. So if you also have a boat, or any other situation where you're trying to fight mold/mildew, consider this appliance. It's simple, cheap, small, and so far has worked well for every use we've put it to.

An important investment in wet country.
We bought a winter vacation home in Arizona, and left the rain of Washington. However, even with our heat being remotely controlled, our 1st winter away from our beloved home meant moldy and stinky closets of clothes, The 2nd winter we bought these to put in the bedrooms with the closet doors open, and to put into our two boats that stayed behind. They worked perfectly! They really do give off heat and dry the air! Don't expect it to dry a huge area; place it near where the important stuff to keep dry is (like your clothes). And keep all the doors open. It's well worth the investment if you live in a wet climate and are leaving your home for an extended time. I does work well! (We put the dryers up on a piece of wood, away from our bedroom carpet, so the carpet and padding won't get dried out from the direct contact with the dryer.

Works!
I have a basement bathroom that always feels a little damp. I just plug it in in the corner and keep it going all the time and now the bathroom is perfect and never has a dankish smell.

Keeps the humidity down
Installed this in a bathroom that kept getting damp because of poor circulation. Worked great. Doesn’t use much power and we keep it plugged in most of the time. A must have for a musty small space.

Awesome for keeping your Motorhome or Trailer free of moisture over the winter!
These are the best units for preventing moisture in your RV. I have 2 of these units operating in my 30 ft Bigfoot Motorhome.
