The media could not be loaded. My son is 2 1/2 years old and already knows most of the words on these flashcards so he only spends a few minutes playing with this by himself. As you can see by the video, inserting the card tends to be the biggest challenge. We'll have to see how long this holds his interest...so this might not get much use beyond the next few weeks.For what it does, it's effective though. I think my only complaint would be that the cards are a little flimsy so young children are going to have some difficulty inserting the cards into the reader. It does take some eye hand coordination to insert them so it's good practice, but might challenge some. Also, the fact that it provides the wrong answer if the child inserts it backwards isn't very helpful. In order to incent the child to insert the card with the correct orientation, the device should either have no response or actually say something like "reinsert card correctly". For it to name an object that's not on the card, it's just confusing to a young child.Aside from my complaints above, my son has used it and we'll hold onto this toy for his baby sister to use when it's time. Kids at this age love to learn...the only question is how long they will use the item. Since we'll use it with both of our kids, it's worthwhile for us.

The reviews seemed great, and it’s what made me buy it however, I do feel there is better toys out there to help with a toddler speech. For starters, when you put the card in the reader, the reader needs to be upside down. That alone was confusing. I also don’t like that the cards are not more current and up-to-date. My daughter seems to like it since it talks to her and makes the sounds of animals but I really don’t care for this toy. In all honesty, I think it’s just OK..

I ordered this for my niece when she comes over & she lovesss to play with it. She three and caught on immediately. Her vocabulary has extended and she’s able to put pictures with words also. If studied constantly this toy is very helpful for toddlers!
