Right out of the bottle, the quality is exactly what you’d expect from Honda: affordable, smooth, clean, and clearly made for machines that take their jobs seriously. After using this oil, my push mower is running better than ever. It starts easier, runs smoother, and sounds like it’s ready to ride off into the sunset… or at least dominate the backyard one clean stripe at a time. Cutting grass now feels less like a chore and more like a suburban showdown, where it’s me, my mower, and an overgrown lawn that never stood a chance. If you consider yourself a true suburban, backyard cowboy—defending your turf every weekend—this oil is a must-have. Highly recommended for anyone who takes pride in a well-oiled mower and a freshly cut lawn.

For what it’s worth this is genuine Honda oil. Keep in mind the bottle does not look like what’s advertised on the website. I was going to return it but when I went to my local Honda dealer, I found their oil is in the same container as what I got from Amazon, not the red/silver and black bottle I’ve used for over 10 years. Go figure. Bottom line: Works good and last a long time at a good price.

Best oil for non pollution controlled engines. I use it in my golf cart with kawasaki FE350. This oil is great for any small engine that is air-cooled with separate fluid for the transmission. I also use it in my generators, and a go kart too.

I love Honda but they are pricey. Keeps everything running right. I suggest buying the name brand for longevity of the tool.

I've read that Honda oil will make a Honda mower run better. From my experiences in life, I "knew" it was nonsense and always used oil from the auto parts store. However, I was purchasing other parts for my Honda HRX217 anyway, so decided to get oil too. I can honestly say that I'm shocked at how differently my mower runs now. I'm almost embarrassed to make a statement like that, but its true. I still can't find any logic in it, but my mower runs like new again. It became smooth and quiet. In actuality, I didn't need to change the oil when I did. It had only been just three months since I changed the oil in late spring so it wasn't a case of old and/or dirty oil. As a matter of fact, I had bought other tuneup parts (filter, spark plug, blade, etc.) but only changed the oil and then mowed my lawn. It was then that I discovered the change in its character. When I performed the tuneup afterward, it didn't have near the palpable effect on mower performance the way the oil did. Its a mystery, actually. I will never use anything but genuine Honda oil in my mower.

I had been changing oil with the small Honda bottles for my 2022 HRX217HYA, but figured why not just get the quart and use it for another season or 2 for only another couple dollars. I probably should be using Mobil1 synthetic or another synthetic with additives (like I do with my Honda generator), but figured this has additives for use in the yard that might be dusty. Make a measuring cup for your mower capacity, pour in the amount from this container and just use this instead.
