Great series with interesting characters
Great series with cats and dogs along with believable people make good reading. It's best to start with the first book in this series as the characters evolve as you move through each book, and there is plenty of new issues and characters to keep the pages turning. So far, I've read all that have been mass market printed and have yet to know the outcome until I finish the last page. This i s very unusual for me! Looking forward for many more books added to the series.

Fourth book in A Paws and Claws Mystery series! Delightful!
Mission Impawsible by Krista Davis is the fourth book in A Paws and Claws Mystery series. Holly Miller and Liesel Miller, her grandmother, co-own the Sugar Maple Inn in Wagtail, Virginia. The inn is fully booked this weekend for their Animal Attraction Matchmaking event. Liesel (Holly calls her Oma) has hired Macon Stotts, a professional matchmaker, to pair up participants. Holly is waiting for their last guest, Gustav Vogel to show up. When Gustav fails to arrive by check in, Holly lets to the room to two nervous mothers who have come to spy on their daughters (they want to make sure the girls are not matched with inappropriate men). Holly then goes off to walk the dogs and meets up with John Adele and his dog, Cooper. They decide to get a drink at The Alley Cat bar in the Shire. They are walking along when Holly hears Trixie barking. Holly knows that bark. Trixie has stumbled upon man on the ground (the dead as a doornail type). A letter in his pocket is addressed to Gustav Vogel. It looks like they have found the missing guest, and he will not be needing a room. Later the next morning, Holly is shocked when a gentleman with a German accent introduces himself as Gustav Vogel. Gustav had been mugged the previous day and ended up in the hospital. The deceased gentleman (using this term loosely) is Dr. Randall Donovan, a psychiatrist who had an extreme dislike for Macon. The weekend takes a turn for the worse when Trixie and Holly end up finding another body in Zelda’s backyard. It is Zelda’s ex-husband, Hank who has been stalking her all weekend. This time Holly ends up on the suspect list. Can Holly find the guilty party before she gets carted off by Officer Dave?I thoroughly enjoyed reading Mission Impawsible. It is always a pleasure to return the town of Wagtail. I found the novel to be well-written and have a good pace (or flow). I thought that there was just the right amount of humor and fun in Mission Impawsible. The characters are delightful. I appreciate the various personalities Ms. Davis created for this fictional town. She put together an eclectic mix that somehow all works together (Nessie and Sky will have you in stitches along with Huey). I wish the town of Wagtail was real. A town that caters to people and their animal friends (they do not discriminate). My dogs and cats would love to visit this animal paradise (actually, so would I). I thought the author crafted a well-rounded and challenging mystery. Most readers will have difficulty identifying the killer prior to the reveal (you need to pay very careful attention to the clues). I give Mission Impawsible 5 out of 5 stars. My only criticism is about Ben. Ben is Holly’s ex-boyfriend and a royal pain in the you know what. He shows up uninvited and expects to stay in Holly’s guest room. He then signs up for a dog and spends little time with it. He expects Holly to look after the sweet fellow. Ben is very vanilla. I hope we experience less of him in future novels. I have read all the books in A Paws and Claws Mystery series (in order), but a reader could pick up and read the books in any order. There is only one downfall with reading Mission Impawsible. You have finished it and now must wait so very long until the next book in A Paws and Claws Mystery series come out!

Great visit to Wagtail
Dollycas’s ThoughtsThe Sugar Maple Inn is hosting a matchmaking event – Animals Attraction, for pet owners. They have brought in their own matchmaker to pair up couples based on a very pet based questionnaire. Where you cat or dog sleeps says much about you and who your mate should be.As if running the event isn’t enough to keep Holly on her toes, her grandmother has secretly filled out a form for her. Her ex surprises her by showing up too. No, they were not matched together. 🙂 But while out walking with her match Trixie, her Jack Russell terrier, sniffs out another body. A man that just happens to have a personal letter in his pocket a letter from her grandmother. So while Wagtail is overflowing with cats, dogs, and the people who love them trying to find Mr. or Ms. Right, there is also a murderer on the loose. Hopefully the police with Holly’s “help” will catch them soon so some of the couples can begin their happily ever afters.I want to move to Wagtail as soon as possible. Yes, they have had a little crime wave of late but it sounds like the purrfect place to me. Restaurants, stores, hotels all allow pets to come right in with their people. The restaurants even have special pet menus. Krista Davis has created a wonderful place. There are several new characters introduced as The Sugar Maple Inn’s guests arrive and each of them is accompanied by their pet or one loaned to them by the local, If The Dog Fits program. Not everyone is there to be matched up though, there are 2 moms spying on their daughters to make sure they make good matches. This makes for some funny moments until their daughters find out. The pets also bring their own type of humor to the story. Whether human, canine, or feline, the characters are so well written and unique. It was a pleasure to meet or revisit each and every one.As for the mystery, I was drawn in immediately and it was pretty complicated too. I was totally in the dark until the final reveal. I had theories but they were all debunked as new clues were uncovered. This is how I love my cozies, the ones that keep you guessing from start to finish. Ms. Davis is a wonderful storyteller.Love and murder is in the air in Wagtail, Virginia and I recommend you read all about it as soon as possible!

Confusing But Cute
The Sugar Maple Inn hosts a matchmaking event. People with pets. Along with an adoption event by WAG, the Wagtail (town of the novels) no-kill animal shelter. Great idea for Holly, Oma (her grandmother) and the other workers of the inn. Not to mention Trixie and Twinkletoes, Holly's dog and cat. Of course, there's a murder right away. Well done. And another one down the line. But somewhere, there's a disconnect. Characters seem weird. A nice guy Macon (the matchmaker and host of these events) paired Holly with switches persona and becomes a terrified loony. "The Ben," as Holly's grandmother dubs Holly's dreadful ex-boyfriend, shows up and meanders around and only confuses things more.I enjoyed the plot, but when an author messes with characterization (Dave, the cop, is a petty "brat" in his dealings with everyone and not professional at all), I'm under-whelmed. But Wagtail is a great place. Deserves 3.5 stars. Hope the next book is more cohesive.
