Overall, Piper and Cord's story is sweet
Piper Colton is the adopted daughter of Eldridge and Whitney. She's been arrested for the murder of her father even though there is no body in the months he's been "missing." The bloody shirt found in her closet is circumstantial at best, but the sheriff (who was supposedly so focused on this case in the first book) takes this shirt as proof positive. The bloody shirt also isn't the first sibling to have evidence planted to throw suspicion on them. Remember Fowler planting Zane's hunting knife in the first sibling's story?Piper is a quirky, upbeat, positive person. Not sure how old she is though. Cord Maxwell is a "Fugitive Recovery Specialist," aka a bounty hunter. Fowler, after he and his step sister Marceline relentlessly go after Piper calling her all sorts of guilty in killing their father and Piper runs away to clear her name, goes to Cord to hire him to find Piper. Cord hasn't taken cases in months because he's been trying to find his niece who's left home. Fowler "regrets" how he treated his sister and wants her home. Cord agrees. Finding Piper wasn't even a challenge...she called him the next day to hire him to help her find out who framed her.Though their story is sweet, it is very unrealistic in many ways. Piper "finds" his niece Renee almost instantly. And Cord is supposed to be someone who hunts people????? Once they convince a rebellious teenager to come back home (yep, didn't take much), Cord starts trying to find out who framed Piper. All he really does is go to the sheriff's office to talk to people. Goes to the court house. I didn't follow how any of that was supposed to help him find who framed her.The 3 of them living in Cord's little house create a family. Piper helps Cord with bonding with Renee. Their Thanksgiving meal is a tender moment for all of them. Piper misses her family but likes their intimate setting. Renee has always been disappointed growing up and figures she will be again. Cord hasn't really had a "normal" holiday dinner. They all cook for it and develop a bond. How Fowler is in this book doesn't really make sense after all the others. He's softened up one minute and cold the next. He also proposes to his longtime girlfriend, who's been a suspect amongst the siblings since the first book, though you can't really feel it's because he loves her. Their engagement felt like an after thought. The mystery of Eldridge's disappearance is truly secondary in these books even though it's the overall arc for the series. Piper has a lot of interaction with her brother Reid, which makes sense since his is the next and final book in the series. The characters of Fowler and Whitney are written so much differently with all the different authors. With how nasty Fowler is, surely he has to have some sort of connection in the disappearance. Their mother Whitney also just doesn't seem right. She's over the top, flighty, and one minute she's portrayed as a gold digger who married an older man, next she's grieving and missing her children, next she treats her kids like crap.Overall, Piper and Cord's story is sweet. It's not just a sex-fest. They get to know one another slowly and bond, even though his being a bounty hunter and she the person he's supposed to find who end up living together really is challenging to believe. A good light hearted read.

Loved this book!
Runaway Colton is the 11th book in (The Coltons of Texas series). Most of the books can be read as a standalone. The books can be read out of order. This is one book series that I have really enjoyed. In this book, Piper colton is being framed for murder. The cops said there was a eye witness that saw her beating her dad. Her dad is missing, but the body has never turned up. Piper has never raised a hand to her dad. The cops are keeping the eye witness a secret. Piper hired Colton to help her find answers. Colton was hired by her brother to find Piper.I loved the action, suspense, and romance in this book. I also loved the heart touching moments between Colton, and his niece Renee. Colton was raising Renee because both of her parents had died. Colton was doing the best he could, but he had no idea how to raise a teenage. Renee left, and ran away. Not really called running away, when Renee was 18. He was worried about her. He asked Piper to help him find her. Piper was able to find her, the two talked Renee into coming back home. The three bonded during that time. Renee had never had a real Thanksgiving meal before. My eyes misted at the depth of emotion over the Thanksgiving meal. This book always has a dog that bonded to Piper. The dog stole my heart. Really good book. I really enjoyed it!

Runaway Colton
This was another great book that keeps you reading and smiling and waiting for the next problem to happen. This family protect each other and love to jab at one another. You get action and you wonder which one will be causing the next problem.

Exciting story
I had a hard time putting this one down. Loved the drama. I would, however, like a little more info on the other "good" siblings, i.e., TC, Jolie and Emma.

The author captures your imagination and runs with it. The plot was well done and the love of his own.
