Perfect everything, especially for a copy used by someone ...
Nothing wrong with the book. Perfect everything, especially for a copy used by someone who clearly benefited from it actively.Just a bit annoyed at the current edition which has expanded from the simpler, original W&M work that had remained mostly unchanged from my parents' time to when I used it during my school days. The updated, revised version is hardly recognizable compared to its older, teaching-friendly roots. Don't get me wrong. it is a brilliant reference book, for anyone who is already fluent in the English language, as was its original intention, for use by children of British occupants of pre-Independence India. The language is frank, unsanitised, and many would raise eyebrows about the nature of several of the language examples, even from published, popular literature. Which is what makes it even more refreshingly enjoyable in this day of PC blandness ....

Awesome grammar book that reminds one of Indian English-medium schools
I bought this book because it reminded me of grammar lessons we had in India with this as our text book. The red covered Wren & Martin was a classic for English-medium school children - so seeing it on Amazon was a pleasant surprise and nostalgic. The book actually came in a brown paper cover with doodles from the prior owner (I bought it used) so it added to the nostalgia :) I recommend this book for any true English grammar fan!!

Five Stars
I have re-learned some things English! Used as a partial warding off of dementia/Alzeimers/receptors dying syndrome.

Not suitable for American high school students.
This book is not meant for American high school students. It was developed for students in India. It is not suitable for use in the USA. I purchased it because I am teaching English to a pair of home-schooled American students and hoped to find a decent curriculum for them. (I am extremely experienced in teaching college freshman and sophomore students but not high school kids). Nowhere in the seller's description was the book's country of origin made clear.

A welcomed refresher
This book isnt just for ESL students. It's also a perfect guide for those struggling with understanding and utilizing grammar as we know it. The lessons are very straightforward. For someone who has been out of school for years. I could understand every single point the author was trying to convey.Just a bit of warning buy the "Key to high school grammar and composition" with this. The main books exercises are pretty useless without the key. Why? It does not contain any answer keys and at just $2.00 or some dollars you cant go wrong. There is also something unique about the texture of the pages. It reminds me of the sort of paper used in college dictionaries and the bible. The book itself is relatively thin, but dont let that fool you. For such a small book it more than makes up for it with its comprehensive content.
