Inspirational
Feeling more than a little disillusioned with the Labour Party, I really needed to read this. “The 21st century is not ringing out the death knell of the labour movement; it is sending out a call to arms. Our response must be a cry of hope. We are the ones with convictions and the courage to go with them. Our values are eternal. Never forget it.”Rise like lions!

Candid interesting book throughout
A surprisingly honest account of his time in the job.Len pulled no punches in dealing with both union and Labour Party personnel that seemed to take up a high proportion of his time with the infighting and backbiting then going on at the time.Brexit, the Labour Party under Corbyn took the remain stance on this, whilst the unions were all for leaving much to Lens surprise when he broached the subject to them, but he nevertheless bowed to their wishes.Good book.

Interesting look into the under workings of a union. McCluskey tells it as it is. From humble beginnings to the treachery of Starmer it's a fascinating insight to world we never see. Well worth a read

Fascinating read
Brilliant book superbly written the serious stories of the dock workers struggles , Len’s rise to the top of Unite , his passion for people’s rights is what made him the man he is today . The funny stories I could actually hear Len’s Liverpudlian accent telling the tales . I thoroughly enjoyed this book told in a way only Len can. I couldn’t put it down as a socialist and Labour supporter I have huge admiration for the support Len gave to another great man Jeremy Corbyn and admire his stance against Starmer who continues to try and decimate the left ✊✊✊

Worth a read
Not the most self effacing biography I've ever read. However, I guess that to get to the top and stay there in the Union world then self effacement is probably not going to do it for you. The book does have some very interesting insights and on that basis alone it's worth a read. Chapters on Brexit, Labour under Corbyn and Starmer, and the need for working people to be represented are particularly good.
