"Never make someone else the main character in your own story."
I absolutely loved the book. It contained all my favorite tropes. Kennedy and Jonathan fell in love in their teenage. Jonathan wanted to become an actor and for him, Kennedy gave up all her dreams. Then he slowly fell into the dark pit of fame and fortune and the glamorous Hollywood life and started getting addicted to drugs. All this while both of them started drifting apart but their love never faded away and they had a beautiful little daughter. But Jonathan's addiction drove him further away from his love & family.Five years later, he went to rehab and finally decided to come clean. He wanted to reconnect with his daughter and fix his relationship with Kennedy. The characters were portrayed flawlessly and the emotions they felt made me connect well with them.Jonathan and Kennedy's little girl was the highlight of the book. She was so smart, creative, sassy and funny, I loved her the moment she spoke something lol!Overall the book had the right amount of angst, tension, humour, romance and flawed but loveable characters. I would recommend reading this book.

good
My first read from author...this is such a good book...once I started reading, I was simply hooked...the story spans 10 years starting when they are teenagers (~17)...great characters (especially the little one), loved the writing style especially the narrative during the journal chapters...and there were some great lines in the story/writing..I will definitely read more from author.

Touching..
This book is awesome. It takes a real problem and a predictable story but spins it into a heart touching tale describing the heartbreak that a naive stubborn girl and the struggle a dreaming stubborn boy go through. I absolutely adored the diary portions of the book.

Deserves more stars than I could have given it!
Reviewed by Sharon Thérèse I’m a diehard fan of Ms Darhower and once again, she has showed me her versatile writing in all its glory. In fact, to say how this second chance standalone novel affected me is quite honestly, difficult to put into words. Firstly, the cover and title couldn’t have been more apt as significant notes and stars stand out where you’d least expect them to. Secondly, and more important to my mind of thinking, is how the past flows alongside the present like no other novel I’ve ever read. The protagonists reveal their innermost thoughts in a silent stream of self-consciousness. More often than not, giving themselves pep-talks reflect on what could have been, what they’ve missed out on--why it all went wrong and a striving-force-forgiveness by one of them opens up sorrow and pain. The author's narrative technique allows the reader to become fully aware of Jonathan Elliott Cunningham and Kennedy Reagan Garfield’s trials and tribulations. Therefore, the special attention given to weaknesses and failures isn’t to be taken frivolously regardless of their circumstances or age. Absolutely nothing is skimmed over. Every detail however minute, has relevance in a love story that ticked every box that I look for in Darhower’s quintessential storytelling. At times, feelings are let loose in a barrage of emotions which had me in tears. Also, I have to mention the masterfully created slow-burning tension in the plot. It snapples and cracks in the most unlikely scenarios, making this book an unputdownable one.I didn’t connect to Jonathan straightaway. I found his attitude a tad overwhelming, a know-it-all dismissing the rules and regulations to spite others. Herein lies the crux of the matter. When his background is divulged, I discovered that the high expectations someone has for him aren’t even close to his, that tolerance is zero and the treatment he receives is heartbreakingly harsh. Then, understandably, I couldn’t help but to sympathise with Jonathan because in my opinion, he had every reason for being as he is. Super intelligent, he puts little effort into his studies making things worse. His popularity with teachers and fellow students alike isn't exactly brilliant; however, a light at the end of the tunnel comes from the most unexpected source.Just thinking about Kennedy while writing this review brings a lump to my throat. I didn’t like Darhower’s personality development of her, I. Loved. It! The contrast she’s construed in terms of her upbringing, traits and surroundings with Jonathan’s is nothing less than perfectly imperfect. She’s everything he isn’t, but like him, she has her hopes and dreams for the future. Regardless of her being a bit out of her league in the elitist school she attends where it’s not what you know, but whom you rub shoulders with, is sublimely executed. Keeping herself to herself, struggling without going unnoticed, is an impossibility...Observing Kennedy and Jonathan’s friendship flower into love was a joy in itself. Whether it’s unconditional remains to be seen; nonetheless, Kennedy believes in Jonathan’s dreams of stardom because, all said and done, this lad’s got the talent. Sacrifices are made, time goes by and promises are broken. Issues so damn complicated, are dealt with on all levels sensitively since what the heck....this is Darhower at her very best! She’s written a well-balanced story that flows without any let up literally taking my breath away. The exceptional banter in just the right places made me yearn for more, the secondary characters engaged me and appropriately shifted the story, distracting me from what was the main characters’ bearings; but at the same time, is intertwined.Obviously, it’s clear to see how much I adored everything about this story which I would without a doubt, recommend one-clicking. Oh, how could I ever forget the very essence of this romance! A very special little person who calms troubled waters so unknowingly, whose innocence had me on my knees, who makes makes this couple’s journey possible, strung my emotions in a knot, put me back together and left a huge smile on my face! If I could say that it was love at first sight in a book, this would be her. And if I could, I would have given Ghosted six stars and love to see it have prime position on my bookshelf. Bravo! Psst… go in blind! I did! And please note that I haven’t added any quotes in this quotable story. I really didn’t want to spoil it for you regardless of however good they are!

Refreshing, intelligent, emotional and thoroughly enjoyable
This is my first time reading this author, and I am now excited to read more. This was so well written, the story zips along, the flashbacks so refreshingly original. The characters so beautifully crafted and fleshed out. We should hate the MMC when he's being Johnny and not Jonathan, but the writer is so skilled that you never quit rooting for him, and never doubting his love for Kennedy. This is no easy feat.Maddie is adorable, and I fell in love with all the other characters too - they all had depth.Fantastic 5 star read.

Stunning Second Chance Read
OMG again - why have I waited so long to read this author! Ghosted is my first read by JMD & let me tell you now - it won't be the last. I LOVED it - like all the feels, all the heartache, all the pain, it just seeped into my soul as I got swept along so easily with gorgeous story of second chance love. This is the story of Johnathon & Kennedy. Opposites attract & like a moth to a flame, they found themselves young & in love, reckless & carefree. Chasing dreams was what drove them, but it was those very dreams that broke them too & gahhhh did it hurt my heart in places. Fast forward several years & a new addition in the form Maddie (who i have to say stole my heart & my laughter) & we see two broken souls, who have lived & loved, but also suffered hurt & pain try to find their way to each other. Their journey is so bumpy, emotionally draining & pretty damn raw. It showed how out of control life can be, especially if you loose focus on what should always be the most important thing. How priorities change, especially when another little soul depends on the hero never being the villain & how forgiveness can be enough to set the heart free, and allow 2 people to love once again - freely & unconditionally.JMD's writing throughout was stunning & I fell in love with how she wrote the flashbacks, so clever & poignant, they tugged terribly on my heart strings, making feel so much in the moment as it was shared. As for the rest of the story & character development, it was breathtaking. I could feel the emotions that Johnathon went through on his road to redemption, the rawness, the vulnerability & the pain as this lost man tried to be better a man, a better father. Likewise with Kennedy, her sadness was so tangible, i could feel how lost & alone she was, feel the heaviness in her heart that comes with loving a man who left her behind & never looked back until it was too late.Truly cant recommend this book enough!

Definitely 5 Stars In My Eyes!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I absolutely loved everything about this book. This is how you write a second chance romance story.I was so swept away with this book and the characters I literally lost hours of my day and didn't even realise it.Kennedy Garfield finds the perfect boyfriend in high school.Jonathon Cunningham has it all they love the same things share the same dreams and very soon they are addicted to each other.Eventually they decide to run away together to chase those dreams and live happily ever after.Unfortunately reality isn't all its cracked up to be and they struggle with it all. Jonathan is changing before her eyes. He's not the same boy she fell in love with. He's become addicted to the wrong things. Chasing his dreams has chased Kennedy away and he doesn't even notice until it's to late. This story will consume you. My heart was hurting for Kennedy she struggled with her choice but did best she could in the circumstances. Her priorities changed and she had to make some tough decisions and that meant leaving the love of her life behind.Even though I wanted to strangle Jonathan at times I loved him too.His struggles were real and his addictions cost him everything. It's an ugly truth he had to face. Fame came at a cost, he lost his family. It took him a long time but eventually he's ready to become the Hero he was supposed to be all along. He just needs to prove it.Amazing Story that had me an hooked from the first page until the last. Do yourself a favour and read this one now.

5 "chicken & breads" Stars
Ghosted tells the story of one time childhood sweethearts, Jonathan Cunningham and Kennedy Garfield. At Seventeen Jonathan is the moon, the stars, and the apple of Kennedy’s eye. At Twenty seven, he’s Hollywood royalty and deadbeat father to their five year old daughter, Madison. The world knows him as “Jonny Cunning” but she knew him back when they shared a love of comics and would skip school to go to the movies. Now she knows him as the drunk who shows up once in a while full of apologies and empty promises. They are worlds apart until an accident on set leaves Jonny unable to work and in need of a place to recuperate. When he thinks of home, he thinks of her, so there is only one place he wants to be. As expected Kennedy is not pleased to see him. More than the hurt his presence dredges up, it’s the fear that he will disappoint their daughter, a daughter who is unaware that her favourite onscreen superhero is her failure of a father.Ghosted is a triumph. Darhower does not skimp on the rawness of heartbreak nor the fragility that comes with renewed hope. There is a subduedness to this fierce romance and its slow burn that built momentum with every page read. It’s a story of redemption, growth and forgiveness not to mention the comedic element that came with Maddie’s character. I adored her and I love Darhower’s style of writing parent romances. There are many reasons why J.M. Darhower is one of my favourite authors, but if you need just one, read Ghosted.
