The media could not be loaded. Update: Just finished installing my door security. Am satisfied. Easy to figure how to as a female senior citizen. Did the entire process myself. They look sturdy. Just a bit disappointed. No screws in the package. So, I need to go out to buy the screws. Thanks

First off, as some have had some issues, this is for one bar! I would not buy two of these. For your best installation option you need to buy one other item with this. the open one. Here is the link for that one. You need to plan your installation as close to the door knob/dead bolt as possible without getting in the way of the door hinge. Look on either side of the door and see if you are going into a stud or brick or concrete wall and be prepared to drill for 1/4" bolts/lag screws as close to the door as possible. You may need to build up material to get the 2x4 to fit right. By "fitting right" the 2x4 should slide in as close to the door as possible. If there is anything over 1/4 inch gap between the door and the 2x4 be prepared to build up the 2x4 or change your mounting for the hardware. Once it is all installed and the 2x4 fits and is cut you can make a modification to the hardware as shown. Drill a 5/16" hold into the hardware and thru the 2x4. Take a 2-inch long 1/4" bolt and put it thru the hole you drilled. You technically only need one on the open bar but I opted for both. the bolt easily goes right in/out and will definitely keep the 2x4 from being removed from a smaller window.Will this keep out someone very determined to get in. Perhaps but they are going to be making a hella racket that anyone around your house will know that a breaking is occurring and will give plenty of time to call the police for assistance.

Sturdy and cheap. There is no better way to add some security to your doors that might not be used as often. I installed this on a back garage door that I really only use when we're hosting people on our deck. I don't remember if this came with screws, but I'd suggest drilling some pilot holes and using some lag bolts. If someone wants to break in that door, they're going to have to use a battering ram and make one heck of a racket. By that point they'd probably have already regretted the decision to break into my house. I used this in conjunction with the Stanley National Hardware open bar holder
