Perfect daily headphones, 3 year review
Not sure why people are breaking these solidly built headphones but I’ve had mine for 3 years without issue. First pair of lg tones lasted 7 years before losing in a lake on a jet ski. I use them everyday (every single day) from work to play and they have yet to leave me hanging. Anything will break if you don’t treat it right, I would disregard all of the negative reviews unless you have a particularly primitive relationship with handling tech or just like smashing things you buy on Amazon. I would need to go out of my way to break these. Yes the cord is thin, yes it’s very durable. Sound quality isn’t as good as say Apple AirPod Pros but also wouldn’t expect that from headphones that are a third of the price, but still holds its own in the fidelity department. Not so loud that you worry about hearing damage but crisp and clean sound. I own 7 other pairs of headphones, these get the most use for their practically, long battery life, durability, ease of use, reliable connectivity, fit, and inability to fall out of my ear while working or doing tasks. Now style.. you will get made fun of, if that bothers you. Nerd. If you write a negative review to try and get free replacements for an item you smashed or stepped on, I give you 1 star.

retractable earbuds still working after 9 months - failed after 12 months
One of those rare reviews posted well after purchase. I was initially VERY reluctant to buy retractable earbuds because 1) I thought the winding-up mechanism for the cable would get jammed, and 2) I expected the buds to stop working due to tension when repeatedly pulling them out (that has been my problem with several non-retractable LG Tone headsets before - often lasting over a year which is pretty good longevity, but invariably one side eventually stops working). But both earbuds are OK after about 9 months of very heavy use. I read somewhere to pull by the cable, not the bud itself, as much as possible, which I have been doing consistently. So far so good. Knock on wood. If they broke now I would say I got my money's worth and buy the same one over again. UPDATE: unit failed after 13 months of very heavy use, but I am reordering the same model - still 5 stars.

UPDATE: PLASTIC BROKE IN 2 WEEKS. / Hubs loves it! Really works for man with one functional hand.
EVERYTHING IN ORIGINAL REVIEW STILL STANDS, HOWEVER THE PLASTIC BROKE IN TWO WEEKS. Will replace it with another LG horseshoe style, but not the TONE model.--------Original 5-star reviewWe really like these LG "horseshoe" collars. I had several of them in the past and introduced them to my husband who just has one functional hand (stroke survivor). He can't work the little individual earbuds and the tiny molded flip cases...too many little moving parts that need two hands to manage or operate while driving WITH YOUR ONLY FUNCTIONAL HAND ON THE STEERING WHEEL. He'd lose an earbud in half a minute in the car and wouldn't be able to retrieve it or get them into the charging case. I can hear the steamy language now...He can wear this LG collar with the ATTACHED RETRACTABLE EAR BUDS all day. This particular TONE model has large braille-like tactile buttons for volume and power he can easily feel and operate with one hand without dropping individual ear buds. The retractible factor is awesome for his specific situation. He also needs to be able to instantly switch between his computer and his phone. This model makes that possible. No cussing needed. So grateful LG is still making this horseshoe-style model. I may order another for myself. They are so comfortable I used to fall asleep in them at night and that's probably what wore out the cord on the side buried in the pillow. We've had at least 3 sets of these now in the last 8 years. After a few years one side or the other stops working. The earbud busted in two pieces on his last one, but we still go back to the practicality and ease of use of this LG collar. This time I ordered a 3-year warranty for him to cover the risk.I like that they can handle two devices at once - phone and computer - without drama. After several years of Plantronics, Powerbeats, Powerbeats Pro ($$$) and many off-brand wannabes, I probably will order my own LG collar tomorrow. The value is certainly there for ease-of-use on many levels (charging - no case needed; pair two devices at once; don't get caught in long hair and lost); comfort; sound quality; price point; length of time "in service"; one unit (no "where's my other ear bud?"; won't fall off into the toilet) - these have so much to offer per dollar invested plus a minimal investment for a long term warranty... plus they're returnable if you don't like the LG model you chose. Shoot, my first set of expensive Powerbeats fell apart in probably less than 2-years of use, not to mention they hurt my ears like crazy. If I had to replace my current Powerbeats Pros now I wouldn't do it. $$$$ Are you crazy?Tomorrow I'll compare all the LG models and pick one for me for sure. I forgot how much I liked LG. The pair of earbuds I'm using now speak to me in Chinese if I press a button one too many times. I had to re-read the instructions tonight to get them back to speaking English. For great value and EASE OF USE choose LG.

Good headphones but…
Good sound, good noise isolation when making a call annd playing music and decent bass however after about a year of use, the right ear phone has lost 10~20% of volume compared to the left. It’s not horrible but noticeable. The mechanical retractor still works well and there is no sign of wear to the cables. The “around the neck” tension does creep up on me after wearing them all day though. Importantly, clean the ear cups often as ear wax doesn’t show but will mess up the sound. For the type of headphone, it is a good buy.
