I’m so thankful i had this on hand. I try to be prepared for some common scenarios/accidents with the dogs, so I purchased some of this just to have in my arsenal. One night I was clipping one of my dogs’ nails and accidentally hit her quick. It was immediately a bloody mess. I quickly pinched some of this powder in the palm of my hand and pressed her nail into the powder and the bleeding STOPPED. I was genuinely so shocked considering how much it was bleeding. I couldn’t be more thankful for this product for saving me (and her) in this situation. It will leave a bit of a metallic smell behind, but honestly it’s a small trade off for the effectiveness of the product.

Birds can bleed out fast so this is a must for a first aid kit for your bird friend

This styptic powder has been a lifesaver during nail trims. One of my dogs has darker nails, so it’s always harder to see the quick, and every once in a while there’s an accidental nick. This powder stops the bleeding almost immediately. I just dip the nail gently into the powder or apply it with a cotton swab, and within seconds it clots and my dog stops fussing. I love that it comes in a 2 oz container — plenty to last a long time, even with multiple pets. It gives me a lot more confidence doing nail trims at home instead of stressing about going to the groomer every time. Definitely something every pet owner should have on hand.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: We do not recommend this product and it cannot be returned. It was slow to stop the bleeding. It left my hands and our beloved pet smelling like metal long after washing multiple times. The powder stained our towel black and kept spreading when trying to wash it off so we had to throw it away. We love our pets and treat them like family. This is not a product for people like us. This product was awful to use.

Excellent powder which could be a little finer but it works for stopping the bleeding if you cut toe nails too short on dogs. Easy to use, very comfortable that relieves pain for small to large animals. Size could be larger for bigger dogs/animals.

As many of us know, grooming your animals can be a bit of a chore. I have two big dogs in which one will kind of sit to get his nails done and the other who absolutely hates it. Being that he dislikes it so much makes if difficult to get the trimming done. And sometimes accidents happen. Never intentional, but sometimes they just jerk their paw right when you go to clip. In the event that you accidentally cut into their quick, the bleeding just never seems to stop. It can be scary and painful. This styptic powder has been great to have on hand. It works quickly and effectively. All you have to do is simply slide the affected area in and the bleeding comes to a halt. It gives you a piece of mind when relieving their pain as well. No one wants to hurt their pet, but accidents do happen. I would rather be prepared and have this instead of my dog experiencing prolonged suffering. This is a great product to have if you groom your own dogs.
