The legendary rubber on these shoes is probably the best in the business for stickiness and traction. The shoes are great looking, durable and comfortable but they do sustain some damage due to the softer rubber used; it's a tradeoff between stickiness and durability but most serious mountain bikers will make that type of tradeoff. I use these for rides where I don't want to use clipless pedals and love them.I have about 1,000 miles on these shoes now and they are holding up very well and remain very comfortable. See the attached pictures.Appearance is cool and modern looking like a skate shoe when worn.Comfortable and stylish enough to walk in around all day.Uppers are comfortable with great ventilation and fairly waterproof.Soles are stiff and have great tread and support.

These are pretty nice and for the $60 I paid only a little overpriced. I now have 3 pairs of freeriders. these ,a pair of canvas ones and the winter version .In the other two I'm a12 but these ,the freerider pro I had to return the 12 and get 11.5. I like these, but I don't know why everyone says these are stiff. they feel like slippers to me. Wore them yesterday, temps in the mid to upper 70s they were a little warm. so canvas for hot days the insulated for cold and these inbetween.

I was always a clip in shoe/pedal guy, but haven't been riding much for the past few years. Decided to go to flat pedals to get back into it and get flat biking shoes. I was amazed at the "stickiness" of the shoe to pedal contact with these and a set of spiked flat pedals. Shoes fit great. I'm a size 9 and ordered a size 9. Very comfortable too. I just have to get past my old ways of clipless pedals. Good purchase.

I am an above the knee amputee and needed shoes to help me keep foot on pedal. I was not comfortable using clip in pedals. These shoes will definitely keep your feet on pedals. I don’t think they would be very comfortable as daily wear, they are quite stiff. I found the size of the shoes okay.
