Cabin Fever: Rustic Style comes Home

Great look at Cabins and more
Rachel Carley's book "Cabin Fever" is definitely one of the best on the subject of "rustic" cabins. But what you have here is not backwoods rustic, but beautiful "lodge" rustic. Gathering images and history from the beginnings of rustic design to contemporary, this book brings you the best of cabin style.I am interested in the architecture and decor of the great park lodges and how it can be utilized in any home. "Cabin Fever" fits the bill perfectly. It has plenty of pictures and a descriptive text. You will find lots of design ideas and inspiration in this book. There is even a guide list of where to find items for those searching for cabin decor of their own.

I Never Get Tired of This Book
Cabin Fever has been an inspiration. I have owned this book for several years, and never tire of paging through it to enjoy its lovely photos of both vintage cabins in the Adirondacks or national parks, or newer homes styled with timeless panache. As I have furnished my own cabin in the woods, it has been a handy guide and I am happy to say that whomever visits my home now remarks on its warmth and charm. "Did you use a decorator?" they ask. Nope--didn't need one because I own Cabin Fever.

Dreamy Cabins
Beautiful book. Too many cabins from Montana, otherwise it's great inspiration.

Cabin Fever Is Contagious
What a truly outstanding book. Wonderful history and inspirational architecture and construction from the past. The photographs and narrative are spot on and it is a book to treasure whether you have a cabin or aspire to someday own one. Just ordered a second copy.

Good source for ideas
Although the vast majority of the "cabins" in the book would be way out of our budget, we did actually get some ideas we may be able to use in our much more modest log cabin. The history was interesting and the photography spectacular.

Bigcat
We visited the Vanderbilt Camp in the Adirondacks. My wife wanted to buy a book about the camp's handmade Adirondack furniture but was too expensive at the camp's gift shop. I found this book the very best and much much cheaper on Amazon.com.

Certainly worth having on your coffee table.
There's quite a lot to drool over in this book. It reflects a lot of different styles and offers quite a bit of inspiration; whether you're looking for trapper, trappist, or southern country it's in here. What you won't get is a how-to or much of a guide to cabin building, and some of the photos are not of cabins at all but rather cabin-themed Muskoka mansions. These aren't flaws, just a limited scope of the book.

Very American
This was disappointing. We are having a log cabin built in the uk and had thought after research that this book would assist with the interior design. Unfortunately not. It was very very american in its content. We flicked through page by page after the excitement of opening the box and it soon went very quiet. We have not flicked through it again and will probably sell it soon. Unless you want to live in a log cabin in the us with oars as your curtain poles give this a swerve.
