Amazing de-stress..Updated review!
I ordered these to try as I knew I was about to work a day in an environment I normally find highly stressful and noisy; a busy public place. I really didn't know what to expect from the Flare Calmers, but thought I'd try them and got the mini size as I have small ears and most ear phones are too big.So, I put them in in the morning, having practiced with the right way to insert them, and the whole day was so much easier. I didnt realise what a difference it made to the sounds around me until I realised how relaxed I was instead of my normal stressed self when there. I loved them. BUT....I wore them on the trip home and one fell out. They were so comfortable I didn't notice one had gone, so now I am bereft of an earplug.*Updated a few days later*So, I contacted Flare and they have been amazing regarding the lost one and discussing what might suit my ear shape better. It's not the first time I've bought from Flare, as I've had their earphones and their earplugs before (also excellent) and they always go the extra mile to help and advise. Love this company!

Subtle sound correction and comfort
I first tried them out when at a festival. Considering I was in front of the sound desk all day working then I found that at the end of the day I was pleasantly satisfied that the buds had done a good job of staving off any end of the day ringing in the ears.I found that the first time is used them the high end that causes me so much issue was instantly dampened. I have so far not had any issues with the quality of the sound softening when in conversations or at work / around music. Unlike my other £20 ear defending buds that cut so much of the sound signal that you feel separate form the environment these feel very natural in their noise attenuation. I am a layman with my terminologies towards sound but I know what I have experienced and these are proving to be a great investment! The one reason I marked the value for money down was and is because, The fit has often left both buds loose in my ear canal and unless I keep checking in on them then I do foresee that any kind of over active endeavour (I am an active person) means that I will lose one fo both of these buds from falling out of my ears. And, I think that the small size is the right size for my ears. I would love for them to have a corded or even slightly more active fit option. I foresee me having to buy another pair before the year is out. Perhaps there is an option of cheaper replacements for those of us who have purchased before?I look forwards to trying the sleep buds at some point too. These are a great anxiety reducing tool within my newly forming kit and I do enjoy there sense of feeling calmer by making an informed choice in improving my sensory experience - such as my hearing. Good work Calmer. Peace.

They don't fit and I can't return them
The standards were too big for my small ear canals and these are so small they just fell out of my ear when I moved my head or ate. It seems there's no in-between for me.What's most disappointing is that I bought these mini's before returning the standard ones believing I could use the 100 day money back guarantee that they offer. But that's not the case and now I'm stuck with 2 sets of Flares that I can't use!I understand hygiene issues and to be honest I wouldn't want to use something somebody else had used. But what I don't understand is how you are okay with accepting them back through the website, but not here? Don't advertise a guarantee that you aren't prepared to honor everywhere. Buying them here instead of through the website doesn't change what they are and they know most people will go through Amazon, so this guarantee seems like a little but of a con if I'm honest.Just be sure that if you buy these, you're confident they're going to fit. If not then buy them through their website because it's the only way they'll guarantee you can return or exchange them!

Don’t listen to the negative reviews
When I first put these in my ears I didn’t notice any difference. It says you have to wear them for as much as you can in the first 24hours. I could still hear everything, well I thought I could. When I took them out, I noticed how loud my house is and the high frequency people have on their voices. Evertything felt so loud And I put them straight back in. So they do work. I brought them to wear in a noisy machine shop and they kept me focused all day without the distractions from machinery noise whilst still being able to have a functioning conversation. These aren’t to block out the noise, but to block out the high frequency. I would recommend them to someone who is sensitive to high frequency noises

Not helping
I entitled this review 'Not Helping' but that doesn't mean they are completely ineffective -- this is also my experience, so they may be different for others. They certainly do reduce certain frequencies -- high pitched continuous noises, background noise such as the computer fan etc. However, certain sounds seem to have gotten worse -- people chewing or talking nearby for example. They certainly do separate sounds, but that just got way too much for me -- instead of a wall of noise that I've learnt to tolerate, I can now hear everything so clearly I'm completely discombobulated when I wear them. What I really wanted to eliminate, however, was my reaction to sudden unexpected sounds like babies or children shrieking (ugh), sudden alarms (ouch), the dustcart outside my window (arrghh), leaf blowers (what's wrong with a rake ffs?) and power tools -- and unfortunately this product did absolutely nothing to take the edge off any of them. After trying them for 3 days, I also noticed my tolerance to background noise without them had decreased -- I needed to escape certain situations that I'd previously learned to handle; in a way I'd developed a dependence, which really isn't cool. The other thing, of course, is that I don't want something in my ear all the time -- they can come loose, occasionally itch and, well, I'm always slightly aware of them, and always aware of the potential to lose one.Have to return these, and the other larger ones I tried, as they simply and unfortunately, do not do what I expected them to do.

Perfect for sensory issues!
These work really well for sensory issues! I have tried other brands (Loops) previously. The other brand was basically just fancy earplugs. They made it extremely hard to hear anything, but the Flares let through all of the sound, with just lessening the pitches that are irritating to my sensory issues. I use them when I go to gatherings to help with the large number of sounds going on at once, as well as using them in my own home when my husband is eating or the TV is too much. I purchased two pairs od the mini ones and they fit my small ear canals perfectly.

Can’t leave the house without them!
I have loud kids and a loud house, and I’m trying to homeschool them on the middle of the loudness. We also go to homeschool co-op classes where, you guessed it, the kids can get really loud. I also live near a very loud railroad. But when I put these in, the noise becomes softer. The first time I put them in, my whole body relaxed within 10 seconds. It’s crazy how much better I can stand the constant noise when I’m wearing them.I also have tried regular ear plugs as well as a more expensive ear plug set, but these do a really good job of keeping the sound softer. I still need to be able to hear everything my kids are saying and doing. I still need to be able to drive. But with these in, the noise is much more tolerable.I have bought three pairs of these now. One because I left them at a relative’s house and needed them before they could ship them back to me. The second was because I wanted to let my kids try them, too. They also have noise sensitivities, so we tried these with them. They prefer noise canceling headphones or ear plugs, which makes sense. I would, too, if I didn’t have to actually function as an adult! The ear plugs have held up well after the year I’ve had them. They also are very discreet. Sometimes someone will ask about them, but it’s usually people I’m close to. Definitely worth the price, in my opinion. I plan to keep these around for as long as I can.

Great product! Just make sure you get the right size.
I've played music for decades, but not until I began playing a high-pitched piccolo (Eb) clarinet did I experience hearing problems. The Flare Calmer Pro earplugs solved my problem. I love them! Just be careful. I didn't realize that they came in different sizes. These micro ones are very tiny. How do you know which to choose? I don't know, but I think for most non-petite adults, the larger ones are more likely to fit.
