I generally find Down to Earth to be one of the best brands for organic fertilizer. It's really good from an up-cycling perspective (because it's from waste from the meat industry) and the fertilizer usually is medium-speed absorption which I prefer over other types. The organic materials have to be broken down over time, so they provide nutrients over a few months, instead of just a couple days like a liquid fertilizer, but it tends to work faster than most slow release coated fertilizers like ozmocote. You can really see it kick in after a week or two, which is my favorite experience, suddenly the plant just looks twice as vigorous and starts budding everywhere. I prefer this medium speed because you can truly observe the nutrient absorption from the plant, vs. the guessing game of a slow release (is the plant getting enough, too much, etc.) You also can reapply throughout the season without too much risk of overdoing it, which isn't the case for a slow release, which might still be active in the soil, and you get that same thrill of seeing it absorbed late in the season. I purchased this for use with several rose bushes plus a new David Austin rose I was given as a gift. I used it when planting the new shrub rose and applied to my other roses and then gave the new rose a side dressing later in the summer. Despite (or because of???) the inundation with intense and lengthy rain this summer , all my roses did well and my new "baby" rose has continued to re-bloom all summer!

I wanted to try growing organically this grow, and I liked the idea of having dry amendments, instead of salt based liquid nutrients. It was so much easier, just adding to the grow medium, or top dressing, and my plants came out beautiful! I highly recommend Down to Earth Veg and Bloom dry nutrients!

I bought the 1 lb package to try it out on my outdoor plants as their performance has been lacklustre for a couple of years. The soil in the USA is much depleted of nutrients it seems. Very good fertiliser for roses and bulbs. Organic fertiliser feeding the soil as well as the plants is yielding satisfying results. American made in Oregon. Will definitely buy again, a larger size this time.

I heard a lot of great reviews about this product and gave it a try on my indoor plants. Unfortunately I ended up with a HUGE fungus gnat infestation that showed up about a week after I topped dressed with it. Super annoyed and I will be sticking with synthetic nutrients for now. Ive had better much results with off the shelf fertilizer from lowes. Im glad I only got the 1lb box because im tossing this biohazard and now fighting this ridiculous gnat infestation 🤨 (2 stars for the box being compostable 🌍)
