Impressive action figure of the Emperor!
He's long gone now, but I had the original Kenner Star Wars 3-3/4" Emperor action figure when I was a kid. Naturally, decades later, this modern 6" version is WAY better than that one was! While Sidious is incredibly powerful and dangerous, an old man in a black robe admittedly isn't the most exciting looking toy in the world. Hasbro did a good job on Palpatine though. He's got a fully articulated body underneath the fabric robe, which barely restricts his range of motion. I do wish that he had an ab crunch joint, so you could hunch him over more. As is, the cane doesn't quite reach the ground. Good likeness and paintwork too. It's not noticeable with the naked eye, but, I did see quite a few small hairs/threads stuck to his face in my closeup photos.Mixed media plastic & fabric at this scale is never going to be a perfect marriage, and I feel Palpatine needed an ab crunch joint and some Force lightning, but, overall, this is a very well done Darth Sidious action figure.

Great figure and Depiction of the Emperor
My nephew loved this action figure to add to his collection of good and bad guys from Star Wars. He got it for Christmas and started playing with it right away. Figure holds up to six year old play.

Reissued Emperor Is Lacking Important Accessories
The Archive Emperor Palpatine is a great figure for those who missed out on his original release, but this reissue feels like a half-baked job. The figure is a straight re-do and there is nothing different except for the accessories. The original release came with two extra head sculpts, swap-out force lightning hands, the cane, and the throne. The reissue comes with only the cane. Really? He should have included the force lightning hands at the very least. I wouldn't expect them to put the throne out with a reissue but come on! Without them, he loses a lot of his appeal. I wasn't sure I even wanted to buy this figure, but since I own the original, and I have all those accessories, I bought this one to use them with. They work with the reissue just as well as the original.

Sheev Palpatine
In the bustling, pristine world of Naboo, a young Sheev Palpatine was not born into darkness but into a family of noble ideals and public service. His father, Cosinga Palpatine, was a prominent politician, and his mother, Adiva, was a compassionate healer. From a young age, Sheev was groomed for greatness, but not in the sinister path he ultimately chose.Sheev exhibited extraordinary intelligence and a natural affinity for leadership. His parents, however, were distant and strict, emphasizing duty over affection. As a result, Sheev felt a profound sense of isolation, seeking solace in the ancient texts and histories of Naboo.During his adolescence, Sheev stumbled upon a hidden library within the family estate. Among the dusty tomes, he discovered a forgotten archive of the Sith, detailing the lore and secrets of the dark side. Fascinated by the promise of power and control, Sheev delved into the forbidden knowledge, finding a purpose that filled the void left by his distant parents. At the Naboo Royal Academy, Sheev excelled in politics and philosophy, hiding his growing obsession with the dark side. His charisma and intellect caught the attention of many, including a mysterious figure cloaked in shadows – Darth Plagueis. Under Plagueis’s tutelage, Sheev learned to harness his latent Force abilities, sharpening his skills and ambition. But it wasn’t raw power that drove Sheev; it was a desire to reshape the galaxy, to bring order to the chaos he perceived in the Republic’s bureaucracy. He saw the Jedi as complacent and misguided, their dogmatic approach to the Force preventing true progress. Sheev believed that only through absolute control could the galaxy achieve lasting peace and stability. As Palpatine ascended the political ladder, he maintained a façade of humility and dedication to the Republic. Behind the scenes, he manipulated events, fostering divisions and crises that would ultimately lead to his rise to power. His charm and strategic acumen earned him allies and masked his true intentions. The death of his parents, under mysterious circumstances, marked a turning point. Freed from familial expectations, Sheev fully embraced his Sith identity. As Darth Sidious, he orchestrated the fall of the Republic, culminating in his transformation into Emperor Palpatine. Yet, deep within, he remained the lonely boy from Naboo, seeking validation through domination.Palpatine’s rule was not merely about power for power’s sake; it was a twisted attempt to bring his vision of order to the galaxy. He saw himself as the necessary evil, the one who could make the hard decisions others shied away from. In his mind, he was the savior, misunderstood but resolute in his mission.
