Tetra Fish Food Flakes are Actual Flakes, not Crumbs!
I am so happy to have finally found a fish food that says it is fish food flakes that is not actually crumbs! I have been buying fish food at a pet store and a big box store that claims to be fish food flakes. Those "flakes" look like crumbs. This item, the Tetra Goldfish flakes, has actual flakes. They are of various sizes, and if you need or want to make them smaller you can easily just press them and they will break up. I did this with a few of them just to vary the size of the flakes for variety to the fish. These are healthy fish food flakes. All the fish really seemed to like this new variety of fish food. It is a good quality item, an excellent value for the money, and very versatile, since it has healthy flakes in more than one color.

Feeding Frenzy!
So here’s the deal — I tried that “fancy” brand that comes in the resealable zip bag (Hikari or whatever it’s called), and what a mistake that was. Twice the price, smelled like disappointment, and my goldfish literally turned their noses up at it. They looked at me like I just served them soggy cardboard. Then I switched to these Tetra Goldfish Variety Pellets, and it’s been a whole different story. First off, when my toddler inevitably tips the container over (which he does — daily), it doesn’t send tiny fish food confetti into the carpet where even the most expensive Hoover can’t reclaim it. These little pellets mostly stay put, and that’s a win in my book. But the best part? The fish love this stuff. Like, shark-week level love it. The second the pellets hit the water, they swarm the surface like a feeding frenzy. It’s actually kind of intimidating. I think they’d eat my finger if I wasn’t careful. So yeah....... cheaper, cleaner, toddler-proof (ish) or at least more so, and apparently five-star cuisine for fish. I’ll stick with this one. And I agree with others, it doesn't cloud the water like other brands. I'm not going to pretend to know anything about the ingredients, but they seem to like it more than whatever the other brand had! So itll be more effective in the long run!

Good stuff, cheap!
We've tried several different foods for our fancy goldfish including some expensive brands recommended on the net. So far, these seem better than most: First, here is no waste like I get with flakes and /or sinking pellets. These 2mm ish round, multicolored pellets float and the fish gobble them down . Because they don't dissolve, or hide in the gravel , they get get eaten immediately. This keeps the tank from getting fouled with uneaten food. It also allows me to control exactly how much each of our three ( 5"ish) goldfish get. (Generally, each fish gets 6-10 pellets, 3-4 times a day so one jar lasts for months!) The fish seem happy, healthy and their colors are great. The water stays pretty clear too. I've deducted a star only because the packaging shown (with the "clear water formula" banner ) is not what got delivered. The ingredient label seems to match though.

Healthy and Convenient Food for Goldfish
The Tetra Goldfish Variety Pellets are a great choice for keeping goldfish happy and healthy. The pellets are a balanced diet that provides essential nutrients, supporting growth, color, and overall well-being. My goldfish eagerly eat them, and there’s minimal waste since the pellets are the perfect size for small mouths. The 1.87-ounce size is convenient for trying out or supplementing existing food. I also appreciate that the pellets float slowly, allowing the fish to feed comfortably at the surface without rushing. Overall, this is a high-quality, reliable food that keeps my goldfish thriving and looking vibrant.

I’ve purchased this product twice now. We have quite a few fish in our pond and it lasts me over a year. Mind you we don’t feed them in our cold winters. Initial cost might seem a lot but a great value when compared to buying the small canisters.
